Fulton County Jail released Young Thug in October 2024. He pleaded guilty to gang involvement, drug offenses, and firearm violations. This plea concluded a protracted legal battle stemming from a sweeping indictment under Georgia's anti-racketeering statutes. The court imposed a 40-year sentence. The judge ordered five years time served and the remaining 15 years on probation.




The probation terms are stringent. The first decade, Williams is prohibited from entering the Atlanta metropolitan area. The only exception are for significant family events and mandated anti-gang presentations. Thug must deliver educational talks quarterly. The discussions are to deter youth from gang affiliation. Additionally, he must complete 100 hours of community service annually, abstain from drug use, and refrain from promoting gang activity in his music. Young Thug has expressed remorse for his past actions and a commitment to positive community engagement. He aims to transform his musical themes to reflect this new direction, acknowledging the profound influence his art wields over his audience. Since his release, Thug recorded new music with Lil Baby, Travis Scott, and Metro Boomin.
