Kyrie Irving Meets With NBA Commissioner Adam Silver Following Suspension
Sources say that Kyrie Irving met with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver on Tuesday.
Prior to meeting with Irving, Silver stated that Kyrie made a "reckless decision" by posting a link to a film that contained antisemitic material on his Twitter account and that he would be meeting with him soon to discuss.
An anonymous source told The Associated Press the meeting with Silver ,in fact, did take place on Tuesday.
Last Thursday, the Nets announced the suspension of Irving for at least five games without pay after declining to declare that he had no antisemitic views.
At that point, Silver stated that he was disappointed that Irving had not apologized sooner and that he had not denounced the material in "Hebrews to Negroes: Wake Up Black America."
Irving still needs to work to mend fences with the Nets, even after meeting with Silver. They were not pleased by his reluctance to receive the COVID-19 vaccination, which rendered him ineligible to participate in home games for most of the previous season, that they declined to offer him a contract extension over the summer.
He will be required to complete measures to return to play.
The Nets begin a four-game road trip on the West Coast after Irving misses his fourth game against the New York Knicks on Wednesday.
