Takeoff's Mother Sues Bowling Alley Where He Was Killed

Titania Davenport, the mother of late rapper Takeoff, is reportedly suing the Houston venue where her son was killed. She is seeking "compensatory, special, economic, consequential, general, punitive, and all other damages permissible under Texas law." She filed the suit in a Harris County, TX court yesterday. The lawsuit follows the indictment of suspect Patrick Xavier Clark for the murder of Takeoff last month.




According to the lawsuit, "[The] Defendants provided no screening mechanisms, no after-hour controls or security measures, and no enforcement of rules or industry standards to deter crime against their invitees, to include [Takeoff]." It continues, "Social media posting in advance of the party made it clear that not only basic security measures needed to be followed, but advance planning and consideration should have been taken into account." The suit alleges that "defendants were negligent in failing to do."

"Defendants knew or should have known that a significant number of violent crimes were committed at the subject premises and in the surrounding area, but negligently failed to protect invitees like [Takeoff] from the risks of violent crime." The suit alleges, "Defendants negligently failed to take necessary and unique precautions due to the specific event and the attendees." "Defendants knew that based on the nature of the party, celebrities would more likely than not be in attendance and potentially be the targets of crime." The suit claims they, "negligently represented proper security would be in place, when in fact none was."




Late last month, Patrick Xavier Clark was formally indicted for the murder of the young rapper. According to the Harris County District Attorney's Office, he was officially charged by authorities on May 25. Takeoff was killed in November of 2022, leaving family, friends, and fans to mourn the tragic loss. Clark previously claimed that the shooting was done in self-defense. He also tried to flee the country ahead of his arrest for the murder, in 2022.
