Let's talk about Exercising to increase Dopamine and Serotonin during the Corona Virus outbreak!

Did you know that Dopamine and Serotonin are chemical messengers/neurotransmitters, that help regulate many bodily functions? They also have roles in sleep and memory as well as metabolism and emotional well-being.

People sometimes refer to dopamine and serotonin as the "happy hormones" due to the roles they play in regulating mood and emotion. Although dopamine and serotonin are involved in similar bodily processes, they act differently.. but have one thing in common! They're triggered by our stressors!

Serotonin neurotransmitter, are basically chemical messengers, that are involved in many processes throughout your body! They regulate your mood and promote smooth digestion.

They're also known for:
-promoting good sleep by helping regulate -circadian rhythms
-helping regulate appetite
-promoting learning and memory
-helping promote positive feelings and prosocial behavior
-non addictive pleasure

If you have low serotonin, you might:
-feel anxious, low, or depressed
-feel irritable or aggressive
-have sleep issues or feel fatigued
-feel impulsive
-have a decreased appetite
-experience nausea and digestive issues
-crave sweets and carbohydrate-rich foods

You can increase serotonin through foods by tryptophan, an amino acid. Certain foods convert to serotonin in your brain. You can also Increase Bright lighting, add daily Supplements to your diet, get Massages , or do things to help your Mood induction.



Now... Dopamine is what makes us human! It controls the bliss, achievement, and greatness mixed with depression, addiction, and anxiety. It's almost ironic, but increasing dopamine in a bad way can actually lead to NEGATIVE effects. For example, you might feel temporary bliss from drugs, sex, or foods, but this could lead to long term consequences.

Symptoms of Dopamine Deficiency

-Having trouble sleeping
-Lost interest in life
-Feeling lazy and unmotivated
-Constantly tired
-Fidgety
-Moody
-Excessive feelings of guilt or hopelessness
-Unable to remember basic things
-Brain fog stopping you from focusing
-over eating and food cravings
-find yourself doing wrongful addictive behaviors.. you may be suffering from Dopamine Deficiency


Now that you know a little more about dopamine and serotonin... Lets get our hormones happy.. lol, they both share one simple rule of thumb!

You can stimulate the release of both dopamine, and serotonin through simply getting regular exercise.

Yup.. just exercise! In today's world.. Many are in disarray because of the #Coronavirus pandemic. People are suffering from Lack of work. Job loss. Love ones have became ill. Loss of life has caused a panic around our nation. Our children are out of school for thee entire year! Business have shut done. People are losing faith. Churches are closed. Food is regulated. Going outside is no longer the norm. All of these things are triggers that can lead to dopamine and serotonin issues.

One cure all is good physical and mental health. Exercise can help stimulate parts of your brain that aren't as responsive when you're feeling depressed, or have anxiety in these trying times. Try a exercise regiment to releases your feel-good brain chemicals!
