LIL DURK GETS HONEST ABOUT PAST ADDICTION & STREET BEEFS ON NEW TRACK 'OLD DAYS'

Lil Durk has opened up about a number of personal topics on his new track "Old Days," honestly addressing his past struggle with addiction, his grief of King Von and more.

The track, which is produced by Southside, is the Chicago rapper's first offering from his upcoming project Love Songs 4 The Streets 3.

Durk gets candid about previously being addicted to drugs, rapping: "I miss the old days, the old ways, my history iconic/I was takin' so many pills, I was so high, I really abused it/Started sellin' Percs, I turned around and started to use it."

The track also sees Durk recollect seeing the autopsy of his late friend King Von after pictures were leaked online, sharing: "The autopsy of Von body had me coughin' up my vomit."

Durk closes out the track with a spoken outro that sees him speak out about current street politics in his city and beyond.

"Now you got real street niggas that want motherfuckers in jail, so we into it with the opps, which is the police," he says. "It's like, come on, bro, like the streets over with. N-ggas gotta understand that shit, man, it's nothin' left out here, bro. Like, you just gotta protect yourself, protect your family, who you love. You can't be around all this shit, this shit ain't the same no more."

Though "Old Days" is his first release of the year, it has already been a big 2024 for Lil Durk.

He was recently added to the It's All a Blur - Big as the What? Tour as an opener for Drake and J. Cole, and will be performing with them until April.


Durk has won praise on the tour for bringing in local Pittsburgh students to perform "All My Life" with him.

Dr. Kimberley Price, Coordinator of Performing Arts for Pittsburgh Public Schools, praised Durk's behavior around the students.

"He was so gracious with the kids. I wish you could have seen it. He was giving kids high fives [and] fist bumps," she said. "Originally, with the pictures, he stood to the side so the kids could get the spotlight they deserved.

"Our kids were so excited, they were crying. It was a moment I will not forget, to see the kids do so well and be treated so well by an artist. They won't forget it either."

She also revealed that the rapper gifted each of the children $100 after the performance.
