Goodwill Is Showcasing Its Many Luxury Finds With New E-Commerce Platform, GoodwillFinds
Goodwill is stepping its game up by entering the e-commerce world, allowing its loyal customers to now thrift online.
The 120-year-old nonprofit organization has unveiled GoodwillFinds, an organized platform separated into multiple categories, such as jewelry, electronics, home goods, collectibles, and clothing for men, women, and children. They even have a "Top Brands" section with popular merchandise from companies such as Ralph Lauren, Nike, and more.
Goodwill currently has 3,300 stores in the United States and Canada, so as you can imagine, gathering, assessing, photographing, and inventorying products from multiple Goodwill locations proved to be a massive undertaking in addition to doing the same for the items received and sold in-store. However, the organization pulled it off perfectly, launching its website Tuesday with nearly 100,000 items listed online for purchase.
The initiative is being led by former Modcloth CEO Matthew Kaness, who brings an immense amount of experience stemming from his time in leadership roles with Walmart, Urban Outfitters, and Afterpay. He says even more goods will be added to the website, and eventually, buyers will be able to make donations on GoodwillFinds.
Luxury goods can also be found on the website, including Versace, Coach, Prada, and Michael Kors. Many of the high-end products come with authentication, though it appears the site is still grappling with pricing. For instance, a pair of Bebe sandals are priced at $690, while an authentic pair of Gucci slippers are priced at $400. Bebe is far from a luxury brand, so the cost listed seems to be a mistake.
Despite some growing pains, GoodwillFinds.com is an excellent move for thrifters who aren't impressed with their neighborhood Goodwill. Every purchase goes towards the organization's many community efforts, so think of it as shopping for a good cause.
