'SNL' Star Kenan Thompson Further Explains Why He's Against Black People Using The N-Word: It Allows For The Disrespect Of Our Culture, To The Point It's Detrimental
Actor/comedian Kenan Thompson is doubling down on his feelings that no one should be using the N-word, including Black people.
During the latest episode of Charlamagne tha God's Comedy Central TV show "Hell of a Week," Kenan Thompson further explained why he believes Black people need to remove the N-word from their vocabulary.
Charlemagne the God opened the discussion by addressing Kenan Thompson's now-viral conversation with boxing icon Mike Tyson about why Black people should stop using the word. Kenan Thompson elaborated on his previous comments and said using the N-word,
"allows for the disrespect of our culture to the point it's detrimental, to the point where you're getting looked at as either a threat or less than or someone who is feared when you're getting pulled over by the police or whatever. And all these reactions with life and death situations, I don't know. I can't continue to just see people grabbing their phones when these things go down nothing happens."
"But we just want to continue to just be lazy about the conversation of it all. You know what I'm saying. I'm, not saying like I'm telling everybody to stop right now. Don't ever say that word again. I use it when I'm being casual and I'm around you know friendly ears or whatever, but it reflects upon the innocent."
These comments come after Kenan Thompson's had a heated discussion about using the N-word with Mike Tyson on his podcast, "Hotboxin with Mike Tyson." At the height of passion, Mike Tyson - who is okay with Black people using the word -yelled at Kenan saying.
"No no, you can't control the way I f*cking think n*gga. If I'm not a n*gga I'm nothing - so don't tell me I'm not...It's that way. I don't why but it's that way...It's nothing you can do, your education, that's the way I'm programmed."
The tense conversation between Mike Tyson ended with Kenan saying,
"I know what you've done in the light my brother. You can't have a shadow without the light. And what you've done in the light is phenomenal.
