Lawsuit Filed Against MGM Resorts for Alleged False Imprisonment at W Las Vegas

Two guests have filed a lawsuit against MGM Resorts International, claiming false imprisonment, negligence, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligent hiring, training, and retention after an incident at the Delano, now known as W Las Vegas. The plaintiffs, Andriana Thomopolous and Rania Kassab, allege they were detained for about four hours by hotel security following an altercation with another guest. The suit states the altercation began when a female guest became verbally aggressive and threw a drink at them after a minor contact in a crowded area.

The plaintiffs claim they were separated from their spouses, detained without explanation, and unable to communicate during their detention. Despite surveillance footage allegedly showing they had done nothing wrong, they were held in a holding cell and issued a warning upon release, indicating that any future incidents could lead to trespass charges. The lawsuit seeks various damages and legal fees. MGM Resorts International has not commented on the case.
