Hillshire Recalls 58 Million Pounds of Corn Dog and Sausage Products Over Wood Contamination

About 58 million pounds of corn dog and sausage on a stick products have been recalled due to contamination with extraneous material-specifically pieces of wood embedded in the batter, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service.
The affected products were produced by the Hillshire Brands Company of Haltom City, Texas, and were packaged between March 17 and September 26. These items were distributed nationwide, being sold online, shipped to retail and food service locations, and supplied to school districts and Department of Defense facilities. The products sent to schools were the result of commercial sales and were not part of the USDA's National School Lunch Program.
