Arnel Pineda Hints at Uncertain Future as Journey Farewell Tour Continues

Journey frontman Arnel Pineda posted a cryptic message Sunday on social media as the band's farewell tour continues.
Pineda opened his message by apologizing to "everyone who's attempted to reach out and secure an interview with me over the years." He said, "Being aloof wasn't intentional nor a disrespect, it's just that there's nothing to tell much."
He then described his Journey experience, saying he was "plucked from obscurity to become part of a legacy that's touched millions of lives." Pineda reflected on his 18 and a half years with the band, adding, "Other details or behind the scenes incidents and moments? They're all but a blur while chasing the shadows of greatness I'll never be able to catch nor achieve."
Pineda also referenced a "new chapter" in his life. He thanked fans and critics, writing, "For now, the story will go on, and who knows when it'll stop. I just wanna urge your respect to my privacy as I navigate a new chapter in my life that's still kinda scary coz for me, it's unknown and won't reveal much of what I'm expecting it to be."
Pineda did not clarify what the "new chapter" means. He remains busy with Journey, whose current tour dates run through August. There has also been speculation that the farewell tour could extend into 2027.
Earlier, Pineda told Rolling Stone he tried to leave the tour twice because of struggles with his voice and an ongoing divorce. "I said to [the band] I wanted to retire because of my personal problems," he said. "No answer. Obviously, they don't want to find another singer."
After Pineda's comments, Journey guitarist and co-founder Neal Schon responded by saying he has never prevented anyone from making personal decisions. Schon said the band's contract with AEG requires Pineda's involvement for the farewell tour to continue.
