Bob Seger To Release 'Face the Promise' 20th Anniversary Edition with Bonus Tracks

Bob Seger will release a remastered and expanded 20th anniversary edition of "Face the Promise," featuring four new songs. This reissue marks the first time the million-selling 2006 album will appear on vinyl and on streaming services.

The expanded edition is set for release Sept. 18. Pre-orders are available now.

All versions-vinyl, CD, and digital download-will offer the same track sequence. The vinyl edition features a gatefold jacket and a 12-page LP-sized booklet. New cover art and a bonus track, "Little Jane," are included.

"Face the Promise" includes duets with Patty Loveless and fellow Detroit native Kid Rock.

Seger first gained national attention with the back-to-back releases of "Live Bullet" and "Night Moves" in 1976, which together sold more than 11 million copies. His 1994 "Greatest Hits" album remains his top seller, with more than 10 million copies sold in the United States.

"Face the Promise" debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard album chart in 2006, marking Seger's return after more than a decade away from recording. His previous album, "It's a Mystery," was released in 1995.

Seger told CBS Sunday Morning that he paused his career to spend more time with his children after 30 years of nonstop work. "You're never gonna get another chance to see it," he said.

Seger completed "Face the Promise" after his 2004 induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. He told The New York Times, "If they're gonna put me in the Hall of Fame, I better at least make a decent record."

The album's lead single, "Wait for Me," reached the top 20 on the U.S. adult contemporary chart. "Face the Promise" was certified platinum three months after its release.

Seger retired from touring in 2019 following his 2017 album "I Knew You When." Robert Vosgien, Seger's longtime mastering engineer, handled the remastering for the new edition.
