Bret Michaels Recovers After Performing Three Shows With Painful Kidney Stone

Bret Michaels said he went straight from the concert stage to surgery after performing three shows while suffering from a kidney stone.

The Poison frontman is now recovering after the procedure and thanked his medical team for their care.

"On this WisdomWednesday, the first thing I learned is complete gratitude for the frontline workers, doctors and nurses who this week have recently taken care of me, as the kidney stone (after almost 7 days of waiting it out) would not pass," Michaels wrote in a social media post Wednesday.

He said he pushed through shows in Charleston, West Virginia; Grantville, Pennsylvania; and a private performance for veterans and active-duty families at Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane, Washington, despite the pain.

Michaels said the pain became unbearable after those concerts and he was admitted to a hospital for treatment. He did not identify the hospital.

"The operation has been done and is complete," he wrote. "I'm out of post-op recovery, and I'm doing everything within my power to feel better and continue playing great shows for great fans when I've got a complete clean bill of health."

Michaels said he appreciates the important role that family, friends, fans, doctors and nurses play in everyday health.

He added, "Also just know, they eventually forced me out of my clothes and into a hospital gown... as I had gone straight from the show to the hospital."

Michaels' next scheduled show is a private event July 25. His Live And Amplified tour is set to resume July 30 in Interlochen, Michigan.
