Don Henley: 2026 Likely Final Year for Eagles

Don Henley says 2026 will likely be the final year for the Eagles, both as a performing band and as a group, according to an interview aired Sunday on CBS News' "Sunday Morning."

Henley, the only remaining founding member, told CBS, "I think this will probably be it," when asked about the band's future. The Eagles have spent much of the past decade on the road.

"I feel like we're getting toward the end, and that will be fine, too," Henley said.

The Eagles have several performances scheduled for this year. When asked directly whether 2026 would mark the end of the Eagles, Henley responded, "I think so, yeah. And I am OK with that."

Henley said he would like to spend more time with his family and pursue other interests, including gardening. "Because I would like to spend more time with my family, and I would like to spend more time growing vegetables," he said.

He also mentioned a desire to travel more extensively. "We see the airports and the hotel room and the venue, and we don't get out much. I'd like to go back to the places I've been and see more of those places before it all disappears," Henley said.

"There are lots of things to do. I don't ever want to have a one-dimensional life," he added. "This is great, this is wonderful, but there are other things." Henley, who has four children and a grandchild, said he wants to spend more time with his family.

The Eagles have discussed retirement before. The group originally disbanded in 1980, then reunited in 1994 for a new album and tour. Since then, the band has remained largely active, releasing a studio album in 2007 and touring periodically, including current farewell tours.

Co-founder Glenn Frey died in 2016. Vince Gill has since joined the band for touring.

Upcoming Shows

The Eagles have nine remaining dates scheduled for 2026, with all but one at the Sphere in Las Vegas, where the band has been in residency since 2024. Performances are set for Fridays and Saturdays, beginning Feb. 20 and 21, and concluding March 27 and 28. The band also has a concert scheduled for May 2 at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, which is currently their last scheduled performance.
