Foo Fighters guitarist Pat Smear will miss several upcoming shows as he recovers from a broken foot, the band announced on Instagram. Jason Falkner, known for his work with Beck and St. Vincent, will fill in during Smear's absence.
According to the band, Smear injured his left foot in what they described as a "bizarre gardening accident," resulting in multiple broken bones in his heel.
"We'll miss our beloved Pat as much as you will, but we want him fully healed and back on his feet as soon as possible," the band said in a statement.
Falkner will join the group for its scheduled January performances, which include a Jan. 10 show at Feria Estatal de Le n in Guanajuato, Mexico; a Jan. 14 benefit concert at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles; and a Jan. 24 show at UTAS Stadium in Launceston, Tasmania.
Following these dates, Foo Fighters are not scheduled to perform again until May, when they are set to co-headline the Welcome to Rockville festival. The band will then tour throughout Europe and the United States through the summer and early fall. Additional tour dates and ticket information are available on the Foo Fighters' official website.
