George Thorogood to Release 'The Baddest Show on Earth: Greatest Hits Live' June 12

George Thorogood has announced the upcoming release of "The Baddest Show on Earth: Greatest Hits Live," a new collection due out June 12. The album features recordings captured between 1978 and 2024, including several previously unreleased tracks. A version of "Who Do You Love," recorded in Atlanta in 1980, is available to hear now.

The compilation pays tribute to Thorogood's more than 50 years of touring with his longtime band, the Destroyers. The collection highlights live performances of staples such as "Bad to the Bone," "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer," "Boogie Chillun," "Tail Dragger" and "Madison Blues."

One of the standout tracks is a 1980 recording of "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer," featuring Thorogood in a memorable musical exchange with the late saxophonist Hank Carter.

George Thorogood & the Destroyers-currently made up of Jeff Simon (drums, percussion), Bill Blough (bass guitar), Jim Suhler (rhythm guitar), and Buddy Leach (saxophone)-have performed more than 8,000 live shows, reaching numerous milestones. Among them is the band's 50-state, 50-day tour, an ambitious effort during which Thorogood reportedly battled illness but continued performing, including a notable date with the Rolling Stones in New Orleans.

"When the lights go down, the downbeat hits and the audience erupts; all bets are off," Thorogood said in a press release. "The Destroyers are at their best when we play for the people, and these are some of our favorite-and rarest-performances from the past five decades. You wanted the baddest, you got it."

The band is currently on tour, with nearly 40 dates scheduled. In April, George Thorogood & the Destroyers will be inducted into Nashville's Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum, joining a class that includes Michael McDonald, Keith Urban and the late Nicky Hopkins.
