Jackson Browne Announces First Full Concerts Since Son's Passing

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Jackson Browne will return to the stage for three concerts at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre in November, his first full performances since the death of his son last year.

Browne, 75, is set to perform Nov. 19, 20 and 22. The shows come nearly a year after his son, Ethan Browne, died of an accidental overdose at age 52.

After the death of his first wife, actress Phyllis Major, in 1976, Browne became Ethan's sole parent. In a 2021 interview with Route Magazine, Browne said, "I only had two things that I hoped I could fit together: being a songwriter and a father. And I looked at it like this, if I have to only be a father, I hope I'll know it, and just do that."

Although these concerts mark Browne's first full-length shows since his son's death, he has made several public appearances in recent months.

On June 5, Browne performed two songs at Music America: The Songs That Shaped Us, a concert honoring the United States' 250th birthday. The event featured Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi, Mavis Staples, Gary Clark Jr. and others.

In July, Browne joined ensemble performances at the Hollywood Bowl celebrating music from the films of Wes Anderson. He is also scheduled to appear at the Masonic in San Francisco on Oct. 1 for a tribute to Steve Earle.
