James Hetfield Leads Metallica Blood Drive for Fans During Las Vegas Sphere Residency

Metallica frontman James Hetfield donated blood at the band's immersive blood drive in Las Vegas ahead of their Sphere residency. The event, organized with the American Red Cross and presented by Delta Air Lines, invites fans to give blood at a pop-up site at Fashion Show Las Vegas on the Strip. The blood drive opened Sept. 28 and runs through March 19, 2027.

Hetfield was photographed giving blood before the start of Metallica's "Life Burns Faster" Sphere residency, which begins Oct. 1.

"Attention Sphere ticketholders and fans in the Las Vegas area, have you booked your BleedingMe appointment yet? James did!" Metallica wrote on social media. "Join us along with the American Red Cross and our All Within My Hands Foundation to make a life-saving gift by donating blood."

Only those who sign up to donate can visit the pop-up, which features Metallica-themed artwork, music, videos, and other interactive displays.
