Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Reveals 2026 Nominees Including Phil Collins, Wu-Tang Clan and More

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame announced Wednesday a list of 17 nominees for its Class of 2026, a slightly larger group than recent years, which have typically seen 14 or 15 artists up for induction.
Ten of the 17 nominees are being considered for the first time, while seven have previously been nominated.
This year's nominees are: The Black Crowes, Jeff Buckley, Mariah Carey, Phil Collins, Melissa Etheridge, Lauryn Hill, Billy Idol, INXS, Iron Maiden, Joy Division/New Order, New Edition, Oasis, P!NK, Sade, Shakira, Luther Vandross and Wu-Tang Clan.
Artists become eligible for Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nomination 25 years after the release of their first commercial recording. Among this year's first-time nominees, P!NK is the most recent, with her debut album "Can't Take Me Home" released in 2000. Lauryn Hill's solo debut, "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill," came out in 1998. Jeff Buckley's only album, "Grace," was released in 1994. Wu-Tang Clan's debut, "Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)," was released in 1993. Shakira, who debuted internationally in the mid-to-late 1990s, released her first album, "Magia," in 1991.
Other first-time nominees include Melissa Etheridge, whose self-titled debut was released in 1988; New Edition, who debuted with "Candy Girl" in 1983; Luther Vandross, whose solo debut "Never Too Much" came out in 1981; Phil Collins, whose "Face Value" was released in 1981 following his departure from Genesis; and INXS, whose self-titled debut came out in 1980.
Collins, nominated for the first time as a solo artist, was previously inducted into the Rock Hall as a member of Genesis. If inducted in 2026, he would become the 29th artist to be inducted more than once.
Among returning nominees, Mariah Carey, Iron Maiden, Joy Division/New Order and Oasis are each on the ballot for the third time. Carey was previously nominated in 2024 and 2025; Iron Maiden in 2021 and 2023; Joy Division/New Order in 2023 and 2025; and Oasis in 2024 and 2025. The Black Crowes and Billy Idol are each nominated for the second time, after first being considered in 2025. Sade is also up for a second time, after a 2024 nomination.
Mariah Carey is the most commercially successful nominee, ranking fifth on Billboard's Greatest of All Time Hot 100 Artists list with 19 No. 1 singles, the most for any solo artist. Phil Collins ranks 27th on that list and has scored seven Hot 100 No. 1s as a solo artist, in addition to one with Genesis. P!NK is 51st on the list, with four Hot 100 No. 1 singles.
The 2026 inductees will be selected by an international voting body of more than 1,200 artists, historians and music industry professionals. The Class of 2026 will be announced in April, with the induction ceremony scheduled for this fall.
