Asobo Prioritizes Fix for Sim Update 5 Console Stability and Avionics Issues

Asobo Prioritizes Fix for Sim Update 5 Console Stability and Avionics Issues

Microsoft and Asobo have acknowledged ongoing stability and avionics problems affecting Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 players on Xbox and PlayStation 5 following the release of Sim Update 5.

In a post shared on the official Microsoft Flight Simulator forums, the development team said it has been "carefully monitoring player feedback" since Sim Update 5 launched last week. The most notable issues being reported involve console stability and cases where avionics become non-functional during flight. Asobo says it is now working on an update to address these problems and plans to release the fix before the start of Sim Update 6 flighting.

The team also stated that this issue is being treated as its highest priority, with more information expected as soon as it becomes available. In simulator terms, this one has clearly been moved to the front of the maintenance hangar.

Sim Update 5, version 1.7.27.0, was released on April 30, 2026 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The update included a wide range of changes, including flight model improvements, performance and stability work, aircraft fixes, and new platform-specific additions.

However, following the update, console users began reporting serious problems, particularly around memory management and avionics behavior. One active forum thread describes avionics repeatedly crashing or becoming disabled after SU5, with some users seeing low-memory warnings and aircraft systems failing to operate properly on PS5 and Xbox.

The issue appears especially disruptive for modern aircraft that rely heavily on glass cockpit avionics. Reports from the community mention problems with aircraft such as the Cessna 208 Caravan, Airbus A330, and Boeing 737, along with broader performance and stability concerns across console platforms.

For now, console simmers affected by the issue will need to keep an eye on the official forums and release channels for the upcoming fix. Microsoft has not yet provided a specific release date, only that the patch is planned before Sim Update 6 flighting begins.

Sky Blue Radio will continue monitoring the situation and share updates as Microsoft and Asobo provide more details. Until then, check those NOTAMs, keep the coffee warm, and maybe give the avionics bay a cautious side-eye.
