A new developer has stepped onto the Microsoft Flight Simulator flight line, and it is bringing a major long-haul aircraft with it.
Rhodiumcode has revealed an upcoming Airbus A350-900 for Microsoft Flight Simulator, giving sim pilots an early look at the project through a cinematic preview trailer. The aircraft is being developed as a payware release for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
The preview shows the A350 in action from a cold-and-dark state, moving through cockpit preparation, systems interaction, exterior views, engine start, taxi, and takeoff. The trailer highlights both the aircraft's modern flight deck and the sleek exterior profile that has made the A350 one of Airbus' flagship long-haul aircraft.
Rhodiumcode describes itself as a small game studio based in California, with the A350 serving as its flagship public project. According to the developer, the aircraft is being built from the ground up for Microsoft Flight Simulator.
For airliner fans, the A350 is a big one. The real-world Airbus A350 is a modern, twin-engine, long-range widebody known for its composite airframe, advanced systems, and international route network. In the simulator, that opens the door for oceanic crossings, ultra-long-haul flights, airline operations, and those late-night cruise segments where the autopilot is working harder than your coffee machine.
At this stage, Rhodiumcode has not announced a release date, pricing, beta timeline, or additional variants beyond the A350-900. Still, the reveal gives Microsoft Flight Simulator pilots another major airliner project to keep on the radar.
The A350 has long been a highly requested aircraft among flight simmers, and Rhodiumcode's entry into the space adds another interesting name to watch. The hangar door is open, the first footage is out, and now the community gets to follow the aircraft as it moves through development.
