1. The Origin of "Disc Jockey"
- The term "disc jockey" was coined in 1935 by radio commentator Walter Winchell to describe radio host Martin Block, who played recorded music on air and talked between songs - essentially the first modern music DJ on radio.
- The origins of DJing can be traced back over a century, evolving from early radio experiments into the live performance and technical art form seen today.
