Celtics Beat Heat in Game 5

Celtics Beat Heat in Game 5

For the second game in a row, Boston kept its season alive with a win over Miami. The Celtics triumphed in Game 5 to stave off elimination once again, defeating the Heat 110-97. It moved them another step closer to becoming the first team in NBA history to come back from a 3-0 deficit to win a series. The home team got the crowd at TD Garden on its feet early with a blazing hot start. A 16-1 run early in the first quarter put Boston firmly in control, and Miami was unable to mount a comeback for the rest of the night. The Heat never led, and the Celtics were up by double digits for the entire game after the 6:59 mark of the first quarter. Derrick White went six-of-eight from beyond the arc en route to leading all scorers with 24 points. Marcus Smart chipped in with 23 points, while Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown both finished with 21. Boston had four players with at least 20 points, while Miami had none.
