Former Chicago TE Earl Thomas Passes Away

Former Bears tight end and receiver Earl Thomas passed away July 4 in Houston following an illness. He was 71. Selected by the Bears in the sixth round of the 1971 draft out of the University of Houston, Thomas spent his first three seasons in Chicago. He appeared in 39 games with 28 starts, catching 47 passes for 748 yards and seven touchdowns.
