Lizzo Tearfully Addresses The Fatphobia & Racism She Faces: Sometimes I Feel Like The World Don't Love Me Back + Cardi B Comes To Her Defense
Lizzo has opened up about the hate she's been receiving following the release of "Rumors."
Yesterday (Sunday, Aug. 15th), Lizzo jumped on Instagram Live to share an emotional message with her fans. Just days following the release of her new hit song, "Rumors" with Cardi B, Lizzo stated:
"People say s**t about me that doesn't even make sense. It's fatphobic, it's racist, and it's hurtful-if you don't like my music, cool. If you don't like 'Rumors' the song, cool. But a lot of people don't like me because of the way I look."
She also said she feels the positivity she gives the world is not being given back to her:
"I'm putting so much loving energy into the world... and sometimes I feel like the world don't love me back. It doesn't matter how much positive energy you put into the world, you're still going to have people that have something mean to say about you."
Lizzo explained why the hateful energy is getting to her more than usual:
"I have people who have something mean to say about [me]. And, for the most part it doesn't hurt my feelings. I don't care. I just think when I'm working this hard, my tolerance gets lower. My patience gets lower. I'm more sensitive, and it gets to me... I feel so down, I'm hurt so hard."

Shortly after her emotional upload, Cardi B quote tweeted the aforementioned video. She added:
"When you stand up for yourself they claim your [sic] problematic & sensitive. When you don't they tear you apart until you crying like this. Whether you skinny, big, plastic, they going to always try to put their insecurities on you. Remember these are nerds looking at the popular table."
A couple of hours later, Cardi B also defended "Rumors" and continued to show Lizzo support. Cardi B tweeted:
"Rumors is doing great. Stop trying to say the song is flopping to dismiss a woman emotions on bullying or acting like they need sympathy. The song is top 10 on all platforms. Body shaming and callin her mammy is mean & racist as f**k."
It is also worth noting that Lizzo shared a more optimistic post following her emotional IG Live. She uploaded a smiling video of herself, captioned:
"Sometimes I get sad... and then I-"
