Russell Westbrook Says 'This Sh*t Is Getting Out Of Hand' After He Was Held Back From Confronting Fan Who Dumped Popcorn On His Head During Playoff Game

NBA player Russell Westbrook is standing his ground when it comes to unruly fans. Yesterday, Wednesday, May 26, Washington Wizards star Russell Westbrook injured his right ankle during a playoff game in Philadelphia. While he was leaving the court a Philadelphia 76ers fan dumped popcorn on the well-known athlete. It's unclear why the fan dumped his food on Russell Westbrook but the incident seemingly infuriated him. Westbrook tried to confront the person who was responsible for dumping the popcorn but he was held back by multiple Wizards staffers and arena security guards. The unnamed sports fan was reportedly ejected from the arena by security.

After things cooled down Westbrook spoke on what happened and shared that the way fans act during games is getting out of control. He said,

"To be honest, this sh*t is getting out of hand, especially for me. The amount of disrespect, the amount of fans just doing whatever the f*ck they want to do. It's just out of pocket, man. Seriously."

Many professional athletes have come forward to defend Westbrook including his teammate Bradley Beal who reportedly called the incident

"disgusting."

According to ESPN, The Washington Wizards coach, Scott Brooks, also spoke on the incident and said that the fan responsible should be banned from games for life.

Famous Lakers player LeBron James also expressed his support of Westbrook. He tweeted,

"By the way WE AS THE PLAYERS wanna see who threw that popcorn on Russ while he was leaving the game tonight with a injury!! There's cameras all over arenas so there's no excuse! Cause if the [shoe] was on the other [foot]. [camera emoji] #ProtectOurPlayers"
