Washington Football Team To Host The NFL's First Pride Night: Football Is For Everyone

The Washington Football Team is celebrating its LGBTQ+ fans by hosting the NFL's first Pride Night Out!

Later today (Thursday, Sept. 16th), the Washington Football Team will host the NFL's first ever Pride Night as they take on the New York Giants. The announcement came from the official Twitter account for FedEx Field, which is where the Washington Football Team hosts its home games. The announcement reads:

"We're excited to welcome the LGBTQ+ community and supporters for our Pride Night Out event tomorrow night. Group tickets start at just $30!"

Different parts of the Washington D.C. stadium will be reserved for the people attending Pride Night Out. Tickets are $30 each to sit in the upper tier, $70 to sit in the lower tier, and $130 to sit in the club section. Additionally, there will be a pregame party in FedEx Field's Premium Kickoff Club from 6:30-8:20 p.m. The pregame party is $28 per person and will include food, beer, and wine.

Various LGBTQ+ music organizations, such as D.C.'s Different Drummers and the Gay Men's Chorus of Washington, are scheduled to perform at the inaugural event.

Ahead of the NFL's first Pride Night, Joey Colby-Begovich-the Washington Football Team's vice president of guest experience and operations-stated:

"We want to be intentional in celebrating our communities beyond the traditional football fans and that includes people of color and marginalized communities. Football is for everyone."

Notably, the Washington Football Team's Pride Night Out comes a few months after Carl Nassib became the first active NFL player to come out as gay. Back in June, the Las Vegas Raiders athlete revealed he was gay in an Instagram video. He said:

"What's up people. I'm at my house in West Chester, Pennsylvania. I just wanted to take a quick moment to say that I'm gay. I've been meaning to do this for a while, but I finally feel comfortable enough to get it off my chest."
