Kelly Clarkson Returns to The Voice for Season 30

Kelly Clarkson is back in one of the places television audiences have come to know her best - the coach's chair on The Voice.

Clarkson has returned for Season 30 of the singing competition, joining a new coaching lineup featuring Adam Levine, Queen Latifah and Riley Green.

The return puts one of the show's most familiar personalities back into the competition after Clarkson stepped away from being a regular coach. Over the years, she became known for bringing plenty of humor and big reactions to the show while also offering contestants the perspective of someone who understands televised singing competitions firsthand.

Long before becoming a coach, Clarkson got her own major career breakthrough by winning the first season of American Idol in 2002. That experience has given her a unique connection with contestants dealing with auditions, live performances, criticism and the pressure that comes with competing on national television.

Clarkson also developed an impressive record during her previous seasons on The Voice, becoming one of the show's most successful coaches while working with a wide variety of singers.

Season 30 brings a noticeably different combination of musical backgrounds to the coaching panel. Clarkson represents pop and adult contemporary music, Levine returns with his pop-rock background, Riley Green brings country into the mix, and Queen Latifah adds decades of experience across hip-hop, R&B, acting and entertainment.

The different styles could make the competition particularly interesting once the coaches begin fighting to build their teams and develop their artists throughout the season.

For longtime viewers, however, Clarkson's return means the comeback of a coach who became closely associated with the show during her earlier run.

Are you glad Kelly Clarkson is back on The Voice - and whose team would you pick this season?
