Teddy Swims is turning a painful personal chapter into music with his new song, "Break Up in Reverse."
The singer confirmed that he and fellow artist Raiche Wright have ended their relationship, explaining that the emotional track reflects what he has been experiencing since the breakup. The song imagines a relationship ending in reverse, moving backward from goodbye to the happier moments that came before.
Swims and Wright reportedly met after one of his performances and made their relationship public in 2024. In January 2025, they announced that they were expecting their first child, and they welcomed a son that June.
Although their romantic relationship has ended, Swims said fatherhood has helped keep him grounded and in a positive place. He has often spoken about using music to process heartbreak, healing and major life changes, and "Break Up in Reverse" continues that deeply personal style of songwriting.
The release comes during a busy period in Swims' career following the success of "Lose Control" and his I've Tried Everything but Therapy projects.
Neither Swims nor Wright has shared many details about what caused the breakup, but the song gives fans an emotional look at how he is processing the change.
