More than two decades after its release, "Mr. Brightside" by The Killers is still refusing to fade away. ??????

The song has become one of those rare tracks that somehow keeps finding new listeners while staying firmly planted in the playlists of people who have loved it for years.

One recent example came out of Indianapolis. During the 16 weeks between Memorial Day and Labor Day, "Mr. Brightside" appeared in the city's Spotify top 10 during 15 of those weeks. ????

That is a remarkable run for a song that first arrived during the early 2000s.

While new singles come and go every week, "Mr. Brightside" continues competing for listening time right alongside brand-new releases. It has become more than just a throwback hit - it is one of those songs that keeps getting rediscovered, replayed and passed along to another generation.

Part of the appeal may be how instantly recognizable it is. The opening guitar kicks in, the lyrics start, and suddenly everyone seems to know exactly what comes next.

More than 20 years later, The Killers may have created one of the most durable sing-along songs of the 2000s.

Be honest: when "Mr. Brightside" starts playing, are you still turning it up?
