Silky Jones & New South Movement Keep Carolina Music Moving With "Bojangles"

Charlotte's own Silky Jones is continuing to put Carolina culture at the center of his music alongside the New South Movement, representing a homegrown sound built on collaboration, personality, and Southern pride.

One of the records drawing attention to the movement is "Bojangles," a collaboration featuring Silky Jones and Dumptrukk. The song has generated online buzz for turning one of North Carolina's most recognizable cultural staples into a Carolina anthem. North Carolina Rabbit Hole even highlighted the track after The Mountain Goats praised it on social media and questioned whether it could be a new North Carolina anthem. Silky Jones' work also extends beyond "Bojangles." In 2024, he joined Luck Bone, Dump Truck and XHOIXE Thundersun for "New South Music Group Presents The Sound Of The City," another release showcasing the collective's collaborative approach. (Amazon Music) He later appeared on Luck Bone's 2025 R&B/Soul single "FLOWERS," alongside Shanti Love and XHOIXE Thunders. (Apple Music - Web Player)

With "Bojangles" gaining attention and the New South Movement continuing to release collaborative music, Silky Jones is helping spotlight a distinctly Carolina identity-one that mixes music, community, humor and Southern culture.
