Well....I like I said in the last post. There has been a LOT going on. I have decided to leave ATL taking my talents somewhere new. I will be having a Going Away party tonight at Aisle 5 (1123 Euclid Ave) in Little 5 Points. This will be my last show in ATL. Along with myself there will be live performances by: Headkrack, Boog Brown, Yamin Semali, and 4-IZE and DJ sets from: DJ Jamad, DJ Mars, DJ Dug Boogie, DJ Deliver. We're kicking off at 9pm. BE THERE! I'll tell you more about where I'm going then and there.

Okay... Okay... There's been a LOT going on lately. WAAAAY too much to even put into words. In the past month 6 people I know have transitioned on to Heaven. One that I was closest to, is my homie Margaret Kargbo. She passed away in late May in a freak accident doing what she loved, helping others and influencing for positive change. Rest In Peace Marg. Going to miss you forever. You are never forgotten. Also....Rest In Peace: Ericka Sampson Lauren Janee Lamar Sko Jimi Flix Pumpkinhead. Prayers to your families. I have a lot of love and respect for all these great people. Gone but not. forgotten

Television: ATL-The Untold Story Atlanta's Rise In The Rap Game

Last month VH1 aired a very retrospective documentary on the origins of Hip Hop in Atlanta, GA. As somebody who's been in the city for almost 20 years now it was great to see not only the story of the music, but the story of the community and how all these things shaped what Hip Hop in ATL sounded (sounds) like. I caught this on TV the night it aired. Shouts to executive producer Chaka Zulu and all the other folks involved with bringing this to life. RECAP: Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival Summer 2014

2 weekends ago I was honored with the chance to attend the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival. Tickets were provided, so I had to make the pilgrimage to NYC to check it out. The festival similar to the A3C Fest in ATL is celebrating it's 10th year in operation this year. Hosted in a vacant lot in Williamsburg, Brooklyn (right off the East River) it was a beautiful sunny day for an outside concert for sure. When I arrived Tanya Morgan joined by Spec Boogie were getting on stage. I dipped out and missed a few acts including Brand Nubian, Beatnuts, and who knows who else. Luckily I looked at the BKHHF website that morning, and noticed that Jay Electronica's set time had been moved up to an earlier time. The post mentioned his set would be epic, and there would be special guests you didn't want to miss. 30 minutes after his initial set time though, his DJ was still spinning his actual songs to the crowd. The host Uncle Ralph McDaniels and other staff looked like they were stalling, the sound engineer kept checking mics (as if the mics weren't crispy already from the last performance). I started thinking to myself did this just turn into a Jay Elec listening party? Is he here? Will their be a show? And FINALLY... Jay graced the stage flanked by a crew of brothers dressed in F.O.I (Fruit Of Islam) garb. Once he appeared, I must say he definitely gave the crowd a show. The hour long set featured all the joints you would probably expect to hear in a Jay Elect set: "Eternal Sunshine," "Exhibit A (Transformations)", "Exhibit C," etc. Special guests included Mac Miller (who straight forgot whatever verse he was supposed to be spitting) which turned into freestyle session between the two. There was also Talib Kweli, and J-Cole who seemed to appear and disappear rather quickly. The show was going great and had no one else appeared on stage with Jay, I would of been perfectly fine with that. But being the magician Jay Elect is, or course he had a trick up his sleeve and that was none other than Jay-Z himself. Hov didn't just pop up to rock the couple cuts he has with Jay Elect, he set it off by his rendition of "Young, Gifted, and Black," and even gave the crowd a treat of "P.S.A." as well as his joints with Jay Elect including the latest "We Made It." I took a bunch of camera phone pics, and even got some video. Then I saw all these fly pictures and HD video, and put my stuff in the archives. HA.

Oh... and before you see these videos, I must mention I ran into Spike Lee who had a 40 Acres Pop Up Shop set up at the fest. I treated myself to a T-shirt and a "Do The Right Thing" behind the scenes book which Spike actually signed... Not too bad considering where we were a few years back! HA.

Technology: "goTenna" Making Texting Possible Without Service

Every time I'm in NYC on the subway, I think "when is somebody going to invent something that provides cell service underground, so I can send text?" Now If I wasn't so lazy, I would of patented this idea 10 years ago when it first crossed my mind

Recently in NYC I thought about this again, and figured in 2014 SOMEBODY had to come up with this concept by now. Doing some research I came across a device called "GoTenna." It's basically a portable antenna that wirelessly pairs with your cell phone so you can send text messages even when you don't have service. The goTenna is available for a special pre-order discount price of $149 USD per pair, while prices will increase to $299 USD per pair when the discounted units sell out. Events: Outkast ATL Show Announced For September 27th

Earlier this year it was announced that Big Boi and Andre 3000 better known as Outkast were reuniting to perform at the Coachella Festival in Cali. Shortly after more and more shows were announced across the U.S. including the Counter Point Festival which is about one hour outside of the city of Atlanta. I actually missed Counter Point due to being out of town, and proceeded to buy tickets in another city to catch Kast. From the beginning I was hoping there would be an Atlanta show (I mean this is the ground zero for Outkast right) but I was in fear that CP would be as good as it gets. Last week it was announced via Creative Loafing that Outkast would be performing in downtown Atlanta on September 27th in Centennial Olympic Park. Tickets went on sale yesterday morning and sold out in a few minutes. Later a second show was announced for Friday September 26th. Those tickets sold out even faster. I just learned yesterday about the opening acts that have been added to this show. Kid Cudi, Childish Gambino, and newcomer Raury who actually just performed his very first show a week ago are set to set the stage for Kast. I must admit I am a little puzzled about the opening acts for this event. Not artist I would necessarily associate with Outkast or think will be able to properly set the stage for the duo... Of course none of that matters if you didn't get tickets already cause this baby is SOLD OUT and re-sellers are having a field day. Will a third show be added for Sunday? I recently spotted this video at TheShoeGame: "How Nike Kicked Jacques Slade's Butt And Tricked Him Into Liking Running." I enjoyed watching Jacque's journey throughout this video, as I've had a similar journey. I started running about 5 years ago, but knee injuries kept me from really getting after it. Lupe Fiasco recently stopped by Sway's satellite radio show and showed why if he's not one of your favorites, he should be. When Sway asks: "You going to kick a written or a Freestyle?" Lu responds with "when people say freestyle, I freestyle!" The act of "Freestyling" or creating lyrics and wordplay off the top or your head is a talent and skill many so-called emcee's don't posses. When done correctly it can create excitement and leave you hanging on to what the next words or phrase will be. Lupe definitely not only did that, but he held it down for 4 minutes and got busy!
