Dubbed 'Weekend of Love, Music and Comedy', the event is expected to be a premium gathering for lovers and party goers in the buzzing Oil City. Frank Odoom, Business Manager of Empire FM explained to Myjoyonline.com in an interview that, 'Weekend of Love, Music and Comedy' is "an event specially designed for the month of love - Valentine's Day." The two-day event comprises of 'Vals Day Party' at the Champs Sports Bar, Takoradi on February 14, and a mega jam, dubbed 'Music and Comedy', at the Vienna Beach in Takoradi on February 15. According to Frank Odoom, the February 14 event, which is a "celebrity meet and greet with their fans," is specially designed to give patrons an opportunity to spend time with some of their favourite celebrities. Patrons will have the rare opportunity to interact with their celebrities and also have photo opportunities with them. The February 15 event will feature "back to back performances from four top music artistes, Joey B, Castro, Kaakie, and Raquel," the Empire FM Business Manager noted. Also in the 'Artiste DJ of the Year' category are DJ Toyoo (Tic Tac), DJ Mynor (R2Bess), DJ Mensa (Sarkodie), DJ Carlos (VIP), and DJ Godday (Edem). According to DJ Perfekt, who was speaking in an interview on the Airtel Entertainment News on Drive Time on Joy FM, organizers of the awards, Mercury Republic, have gravely erred in nominating him in the awards. "So far as I am concerned, I don't remember the last time I played for the artiste that I am nominated [for] - that is Samini," he said. According to him, the last time he played for Samini was about four years ago. "So if I am nominated in that category I feel like there is a lot of homework to be done," DJ Perfekt stressed. Reacting to allegations of not doing due diligence with the nomination process, Mercury Quaye, CEO of Mercury Republic, said it is unfortunate this issue is coming up and stressed that there is nothing wrong with the nomination process. "It's quite interesting the kind of revelation we are having now. Our research revealed that there was a programme where Samini did a live band and Perfekt played with the live band," Mercury Quaye said. Although he cannot name the programme on which DJ Perfekt played for Samini, his team "will have to cross check," to rectify the anomaly, if only there is any. He promised that, "If we go and check and DJ Perfekt is right, DJ Perfekt's name will be dropped from the nominees' list for the Ghana DJ Awards 2014." Mercury Quaye explained that organizers have taken steps to ensure that this year's event is very transparent and fair. "One thing that we have done this year is to take the awards [and] spread across the country so if you look at the nominations list we have gone beyond Accra, gone beyond Kumasi, we've gone as far as Tamale just to make sure that all these other DJs that don't really have the spotlight are also recognized," he said. Mercury Quaye therefore urged that, "If anybody has a problem with anything with respect to the awards," they have been nominated "and they feel they don't deserve to [be nominated]...they should just reach us and the right thing done." Asked if his name is not dropped from the nominations and he wins, will he accept the award, DJ Perfekt stressed that, "I don't deserve to be in that particular category this year. I think my name should be dropped from that category." 29742Drop, My NameDrop My Namehttp://www.blackvibes.com/features/blogs/killerfingers-drop-my-name-29743/features/blogs/killerfingers-drop-my-name-29743/Posted by killerfingers0http://www.blackvibes.com/features/blogs/killerfingers-drop-my-name-29743/#commentsFri, 31 Jan 2014 12:50 GMTPopular DJ, DJ Perfekt, known in real life as Henry Ofori Nyarko, has called on the organizers of the annual Ghana DJ Awards to drop his name from the awards' nominations stating he does not deserve any nomination The DJ has been nominated in the 'Artiste DJ of the Year' category of the awards, which awards excellence in the Disc Jockey profession in Ghana. Nominations for the award released last Saturday came without some expected names of DJs believed to have worked hard during the year under review. The likes of DJ Nii Aryee Tagoe of Joy FM, DJ Killer Fingers of YFM, Blackboy of YFM, Kwasi Aboagye, Abeiku Santana of Okay FM, and Bola Ray Joy FM among others were all missing from the nomination list which is making the rounds. Though the reasons why they could not make it to the list is unknown, indications are that, it may be a case of "not everybody can be nominated for this year especially when they were nominated for the previous edition." Also, they may have not worked hard enough to merit a nomination or they did not submit their works for consideration for the year under review. 29740Ghana Dj's, AwardKiller Fingershttp://www.blackvibes.com/features/blogs/killerfingers-killer-fingers/features/blogs/killerfingers-killer-fingers/Posted by killerfingers0http://www.blackvibes.com/features/blogs/killerfingers-killer-fingers/#commentsFri, 31 Jan 2014 12:35 GMTi''m an exceptional disc jockey by industry standards, host of YFM''s FridayNyteMix-&-PartyPressure.FRI-N-SAT 8pm-12am (Yfm 107.9)29735Killer ,Fingers
