My name is Imani! I took ASL for my foreign language class in high school and got hooked ever since! My teacher actually was the one who told me I should pursue interpreting as a career! So after graduating high school I took the steps to make that happen, and graduated from USF with the major Deaf studies. ASL is and will always be my passion!83540signlanguage, Kalghanisignitblogs/8-2017/83540-kalghani-signlanguage-s.jpgMeet Signer ( @bree.k.jones )http://www.blackvibes.com/features/blogs/kalghani-signlanguage-kalghanisignit-650518/features/blogs/kalghani-signlanguage-kalghanisignit-650518/Posted by kalghani0http://www.blackvibes.com/features/blogs/kalghani-signlanguage-kalghanisignit-650518/#commentsMon, 21 Aug 2017 19:24 GMTI think learning ASL or any sign language for that matter is crucial. We often think Deafness is far from us, when in reality, it's really next door neighbors with us. Anyone can become Deaf or experience some degree of hearing loss at anytime for any reason. Wouldn't it make sense to be prepared ? Not saying that YOU will eventually have hearing loss, but you never know if it'll be your friend, your aunt, your cousin, your mom... you just never know There's so many Deaf people we may encounter, but have no idea that they're Deaf. How so? Well, because unfortunately, as people, we only focus on ourselves. ASL is the 2nd most use language in the US (some sources say 3rd, but the DEAF sources say 2nd lol). This means, we need to do better as a society of making access to communication equal for all. https://youtu.be/B1ROXdrykVE 83539signlanguage, Kalghanisignitblogs/8-2017/83539-signlanguage-kalghani-s.jpgWho is KalGhani?http://www.blackvibes.com/features/blogs/kalghani-kalghani-signlanguage-fashion-51986/features/blogs/kalghani-kalghani-signlanguage-fashion-51986/Posted by kalghani0http://www.blackvibes.com/features/blogs/kalghani-kalghani-signlanguage-fashion-51986/#commentsSat, 29 Jul 2017 08:08 GMTKalGhani is a very unique brand ! Being Deaf, though, is about more than just whether or not a person can hear-it's about being part of a community with its own history, values, and culture. Let's take a look at some of the more surprising facts about Deaf culture and how it differs from hearing culture." -Deaf Culture is not universal While American Sign Language is used in the United States and Canada, most countries have their own distinct sign languages. Just as American Sign Language is unrelated to spoken English, the sign languages of other countries have their own unique histories separate from the origins and histories of their countries' respective spoken languages. -Look at Face not hands, when communicating If you watch Deaf people sign, you'll notice that they look at each other's faces, not hands, when communicating. People who are learning to sign often fixate on the signer's hands, which looks unnatural and can hinder effective communication. This is because facial expressions are just as important for communication in sign language as using the hands and can have a huge impact on the meaning that is being conveyed. -Getting someones attention To get someone's attention, Deaf people might tap someone on the shoulder. Or, they might bang or tap on a table so that the vibrations cause everyone at the table to look toward the source of the vibrations. In a large group or classroom setting, flashing the lights off and on is a common way to get everyone's attention. It's rude to wave your hands right in front of a Deaf person's face to get their attention. Just gently tap them on the shoulder instead. It's ok to wave your hand, though, if you're too far away for a shoulder tap.82008Deaf culture, kalghaniblogs/7-2017/82008-kalghani-deaf-culture-s.jpgDeaf vs deafhttp://www.blackvibes.com/features/blogs/kalghani-deaf-culture-kalghani-kalghanisignit-142507/features/blogs/kalghani-deaf-culture-kalghani-kalghanisignit-142507/Posted by kalghani0http://www.blackvibes.com/features/blogs/kalghani-deaf-culture-kalghani-kalghanisignit-142507/#commentsTue, 4 Jul 2017 00:59 GMTMany of you might ask whats the BIG Deal about deaf vs Deaf!!! well here is what i learned in college..''Generally, the "small d" deaf do not associate with other members of the deaf community. They may strive to identify themselves with hearing people, regard their hearing loss solely in medical terms. ... In contrast, "Big D" Deaf people identify themselves as culturally deaf and have a strong deafidentity.'' 82015Deaf culture, kalghani, kalghanisignitblogs/7-2017/82015-deaf-culture-kalghani-s.jpgKalGhani Features/Likeshttp://www.blackvibes.com/features/blogs/kalghani-kalghani-fashion-520426/features/blogs/kalghani-kalghani-fashion-520426/Posted by kalghani0http://www.blackvibes.com/features/blogs/kalghani-kalghani-fashion-520426/#commentsSat, 1 Jul 2017 05:06 GMT-@Shaderoom -@Cardib (three times) -@populardancetrends -@everyonegoals -@gramtrends - @E40 -@Mozzymemba -Featured on Bet.com -Nicki Minaj liked my Video -Bossip.com - @worldofbeyonce More blessings to come...80026KalGhani,fashionbvc/141/29541-kalghani.jpg
