His journey began in 1981, developing his craft through house parties and events across Brampton, Malton and Mississauga before becoming part of Southern Ontario's club and radio scene. Raised on everything from Percy Sledge, Earth, Wind & Fire and Kool & The Gang to Kenny Rogers, XTC developed a musical philosophy that still defines him today: great music isn't restricted by genre or generation. THE VIBE DJ XTC's musical world includes old school, R&B, soul, funk, reggae, soca, dancehall, house, freestyle, salsa, Latin, disco, nu-disco, classic rock, country, Top 40, jungle, drum & bass and beyond. Sometimes it's a forgotten slow jam. Sometimes it's freestyle, reggae, salsa or house. Sometimes it's a record you haven't heard since somebody's basement party decades ago. That's the point. XTC isn't interested in chasing whatever happens to be popular this week. He's interested in music that creates a reaction. THE HISTORY During the 1980s, DJ XTC performed at venues including Astrolight, Superstars, The World, NRG, Barracuda and Toronto's Concert Hall. Radio became another major chapter through the long-running Project Bounce and its Red Light Radio segment, where old school, funk, R&B, vintage favourites and slow jams had a home. XTC also owned Brampton's all-ages Club 404, which welcomed artists including Maestro Fresh-Wes, Michie Mee and Redhead Kingpin. Alongside Hyped Entertainment and United Force, XTC helped produce event series including X Marks The Spot, Tribal Council, Club 404 Ol Skool Reunion, New Jack Spring and Diggin' In The Crates - celebrations of the music and culture that helped shape generations. THE OLD SCHOOL GURU DJ XTC has never needed to be defined as a mainstream DJ. He's a collector, curator, teacher, mentor and lifelong student of music. That philosophy earned him another name: The Old School Guru. Today, XTC continues sharing more than 40 years of DJ and entertainment experience while mentoring DJs and exploring the relationship between DJ culture, technology and the next generation. As a member of the worldwide Fleet DJs organisation, he produces and hosts programming spanning old school, R&B, freestyle, salsa, Caribbean music, Afro sounds and more.
