How We Saved the Wedding Party when the power went out 10-10-2020IF YOUR DJ DOES NOT HAVE THESE 12 THINGS DO NOT HIRE THEM! What happens when the power goes out at your outdoor wedding venue? Is your team of wedding professions ready to leap into action and keep the clients taken care of? 10-10-2020 the biggest wedding day of the year 20 mins into the dance party the power goes out at the venue in John's Island. 4 minutes later it comes back on, only to go right back out later 60 second. OK now what do you do, there is NO Music, No party lighting, it's raining sideways and you have a tent full of people celebrating what's your next move. I absolutely LOVE working with Bouquets & Bowties of Charleston because these ladies immediately go into action with focus! While they are doing what they need to do about the power situation the ultimate fast thinking Aly for Wild Cotton Photography whips out her LED spot light to give me assistance on Plan B. Usually after my ceremony and cocktail hour is over I used to put up my ceremony gear in the van. I changed this process 3 years ago when this situation happened at another wedding. My ceremony setup is "completely wireless and cordless" meaning its self powered. I use a BOSE S1 portable, wireless, battery operated bluetooth speaker that gives off incredible sound. More importantly is compact and easy to cameplague for wedding photos. I also use Sennheiser EW 135P G4 wireless microphone and also EW 112P G4 lapel microphone. These microphones run off batteries with no need for electrical. Using Aly's light I was able to connect the mic transmitter to my ceremony battery operated speaker so that I could still make announcements. Then I was also able to connect my iPhone to the bluetooth connection and get some music back to keep spirits high. KEEP IN MIND THERE IS NO INTERNET CONNECTION!!!! So I always have playlist setup for EVERY aspect of a wedding from Ceremony to the Last song. I had my iPad Mini loaded up with 80GB of Apple Music downloaded and my Surface 8 loaded up with 60GB of downloaded music ready to play. As a part of EVERY wedding I always download all the songs for EVERY wedding to my 256GB thumb drives loaded into my Pioneer CDJs if my laptop has a heart attack. BUT WHAT DO YOU DO IF YOU HAVE NO POWER. I ALSO down all the wedding songs to my iPad and Surface Pro 8 as backups. I never rely solely on bluetooth connections so I always have 3 different auxiliary cord connections just in case. In this case we had the music playing via the bluetooth speaker, photographers LED light illuminating the dance floor. I am quickly packing up my expensive DJ equipment and moving speakers. Reilly from Bouquets & Bowties sweeping water from under my DJ table, Chauncy from B&B and guests to help me move my equipment further into the tent area. While I was moving at a million miles per hour it may have looked like panic from the outside but it was laser focused on getting things up and out of the way to prepare the equipment to be moved. Rielly, the freaking superstar that she is, comes to me and askes. "How long will that speaker last?" I replied it should last the night but I have another one in the trunk of the van. She goes out in the torrential downpour and grabs the 2nd BOSE S1 speaker just in case. While she was going to the van. I pulled out my portable Chauvet powered uplight & my COOLIS battery pack and plugged my MacBook into it so I can continue running my SERATO DJ Software. I pull out my NUMARK DJ2GO mini DJ controller and plug it into the MacBook. I connect it to the 2nd BOSE S1 and begin DJing again off my full library of music. We are back in full party mode and they are still partying like nothing ever happened. I was able to accommodate the Bride's recent music request and all was good. I DJ'd for over an hour with no power and the wedding professionals kept their focus on making sure the Bride & Groom remained happy. Chauncey & Reilly were walking drinks over from the Emergency Cocktail Tent where the super awesome Brand Bar Events were. These ladies were taking drink orders in the main tent and walking them over to the guests in the main tent in pouring rain!!! All the while Aly is getting some great photos of the dance party being illuminated from her LED light and the head table candles. Rockstar crew indeed! The last 30 mins of the night power is restored and I begin to plug up the speakers again. Chauncey tells me not to so that I do not get electrocuted. Reilly removed all the water from under my DJ station so I felt OK, I turned on the power strip and we were back in business. By this time we have the whole bridal party on the floor partying and we finish the night with a bang! I have my generator in the truck but I just could not even ask Reilly to carry that heavy thing 100 yards in the rain. The party was going great so not needed. Bottom line is I have prepared for this for over 5 years. I have acquired equipment that is very pricey and other DJs deem unnecessary. I will tell you that there is no better plan B, C or D than Preparation and Teamwork. What a blessing to be with such awesome wedding pros. You need to consider these people for your wedding as they go the extra mile. Did you book a Price or a Personality?

Using ZOOM to Book your DJ is such a key tool for destination brides and local brides. ZOOM makes it "convenient" and supports your decision making.I had to finally write this after meeting and booking with so many potential Brides for our services over the past 6 -7 months. I was not sold on video conferencing into COVID forced us into it. I really ENJOY meeting with people one on one at the office or over coffee. But personal interaction came to a screeching halt Mid March 2020.

ZOOM video conferencing has given me back the best part of who we are, SELLING OUR PERSONALITY NOT PRICE. I will be the first to tell you there are 80% of the wedding DJs out there less priced than us. We are proud to be in the top 20% of Entertainers with Personality and offering a memorable experience.

Many people have opted to go with someone less expensive on their special day. Some situations it worked out fine, some not so good. Rule of thumb - Your DJ should be just as good as your wedding dress! Think about that for a moment, would you get all dressed up to have a so-so night on the town?

Let's be honest quarantine has made all of us change how we do business to thrive and meet clients needs. I just got off my 2nd Zoom call for the day and I felt so inspired to write this. When you get on the screen and CONNECT with the person that will be providing the soundtrack to your most special day.....You can't make a bad decision on your selection.

BRIDES take the time to use ZOOM video conferencing as a selection process tool. Find that person that is going to be just right for your event. Every vendor gets awards every vendor gets reviews (we have a ton of them).......get to know What Your Options Are and make sure you feel you are making the right decision for your special day. You wont regret it!!!!!!!!!!
