Elton John will return to the stage for two "final farewell performances" in Mexico City, three years after ending his global farewell tour.The concerts are set for Oct. 2 and 3 at Estadio Banorte, also known as Estadio Azteca, the city's well-known soccer stadium. These shows will mark John's first performances in Mexico in 14 years."Mexico City has always held a special place in my heart," John said in a statement. "I was truly disappointed that the pandemic kept me from touring Latin America during my Farewell tour, which makes this return especially meaningful. Def Leppard frontman Joe Elliott says fans can expect surprises from the band's upcoming 13th studio album, set for release in early 2027.The new album will follow 2022's "Diamond Star Halos." The band released the lead single, "Rejoice," in February, months ahead of the full album. Elliott spoke about the gap between the single and the album in an interview with French radio station Oui FM."We released it in time for the Vegas residency," Elliott said. "We did a Vegas residency in February, and we wanted to play a new song, so it made sense to actually put it out."Elliott said the album is still in progress. "The album won't be out until early '27, 'cause we're still recording it," he said. "We were actually recording parts of it in Vegas on days off. We would go down into the basement of the casino and set it up as a studio. So we're still actively recording now and mixing."Elliott said the band has about 18 songs, but not all will make the final cut. "We've kind of got nearly two albums," he said. "We're gonna pick and choose which 10 or 11 we think are the right ones. We've got some great songs-very varied."He described the new material as diverse. "We've written the fastest song we've ever done," Elliott said. "And we've also written the most over-the-top, massive, kind of bombastic song that we've ever written, too, and lots of stuff in between."He added, "A lot of people will be shocked, I think, because of the direction we're going in. It's not one direction; it's 10 different directions. And we love being able to do that."Elliott said the band plans to finish the album on schedule, despite touring commitments this summer. Nikki Sixx responded Friday to comments made by Godsmack drummer Shannon Larkin about M tley Cr e's live performances, calling Larkin a "hater" in a post on X.Larkin, who played drums for Godsmack from 2002 to 2024, discussed recent criticism of Mike Mangini-Godsmack's new drummer-on his YouTube channel. Anyway, maybe he needs to take a nap before he does more press."Larkin's original comments came as he discussed Wade Murff, who briefly played drums for Godsmack before Mangini joined. Larkin said Godsmack does not use click tracks or backing tracks during live shows, unlike some bands. He added, "You see Nikki Sixx up there. He's not really singing, he looks away, but you still hear his voice. Well, it's a track playing. But in order for those things to happen, the band has to be on a click track - and the band doesn't have to. It's just us, the drummer. We're on a click so it's always the same every night."Earlier this year, M tley Cr e won a legal dispute with former guitarist Mick Mars. Mars had accused the band of playing to backing tracks, but later retracted those statements in court.Tension between M tley Cr e and Godsmack dates back to 2009, when Godsmack opened for M tley Cr e on the Cr e Fest 2 tour. Larkin said in a 2011 interview that issues with M tley Cr e's security led to bad blood, claiming Godsmack's guests were mistreated backstage. "Motley Crue's security were real weird with our guests getting backstage, like our guests might want to look at Motley Crue. Our guests were there to see us and they didn't care about Motley Crue," Larkin said at the time.Godsmack later released the 2010 song "Cryin' Like a Bitch," which frontman Sully Erna confirmed was inspired by their experience on the tour. Erna said in a video, "There's definitely been some rock star garbage on this tour that we just have never seen in our career. This was the first time that I felt like, 'If there's gonna be some people that are gonna treat other people a certain way, then I'm gonna go out there every night and make sure that we make you look old and fat and go home with a nice big fat paycheck.'"The two bands have continued to trade remarks in interviews and on social media in the years since.

He added, "Even if sales were down, Steve has been concerned about this heat for years. "I mean, they didn't really start from scratch, but as a trio, we had to find a way to come together. It didn't feel like that. So it was also taking the pressure a little bit away because they're kind of like, 'Okay, how does this go?' Cause they hadn't played it in 10 years. On May 15, Frampton released "Carry The Light," his 19th solo studio album and his first set of all-new songs in 16 years. This week, he will premiere a new documentary, "Frampton," directed by longtime band member Rob Arthur. The film receives a special screening Thursday, June 4, at the Tribeca Festival in New York.These new works arrive soon after Frampton marked the 50th anniversary of "Frampton Comes Alive!" The 1976 live album topped the Billboard 200 for 10 weeks and produced two top 10 singles on the Billboard Hot 100."It all comes to roost at the same time," Frampton, 76, said in a recent interview via Zoom from his Nashville home studio, Bigsby Park. He wore a denim shirt over a Tom Petty T-shirt during the call.Frampton said the 50th anniversary was both exciting and daunting. The release of "Carry The Light" and the documentary happened to align, though it was not planned. "We were going to release the album a month earlier, but then Tribeca contacted us," he said. "So we put it back so the album would come out, and two weeks later it's Tribeca, and then we could talk about both."Arthur, the film's director and Frampton's keyboard player, started the project after Frampton revealed his diagnosis of Inclusion Body Myositis (IBM), a degenerative muscle disease. The condition has affected Frampton's mobility and playing style, but audiences have seen little change during his recent performances.Arthur said he wanted to document Frampton's farewell tour in 2019. "Peter said, 'Why don't you just film all the concerts?'" Arthur said. "I'm the keyboard player, so it was a challenge." He set up three cameras to capture performances and backstage moments, and he began interviewing Frampton.Arthur found the story went beyond concert footage. The COVID-19 pandemic slowed the process but gave Arthur time to organize material and start a production company, Phenix Features, with Frampton. Their friendship allowed for candid conversations, Arthur said. "The basis of the movie is my take on him as a friend, and of course I know his legacy very well."Frampton said he trusted Arthur to lead the documentary while he focused on making music with his son, Julian, who co-produced the album. "I had a lot to do with it. I know everything that's in there. But we were working on two projects at once," Frampton said. "I mainly concentrated on the album and wasn't involved day to day with the film."The documentary covers Frampton's childhood in Kent, England, and his early bands. Arthur filmed Frampton playing Buddy Holly's "Peggy Sue" on the steps of Bromley Technical High School, where Frampton's father was head of the art department. The film also features appearances by Bill Wyman, Roger Daltrey, Ringo Starr, Herb Alpert, Alice Cooper, Sheryl Crow, Nancy Wilson, Tom Morello, and others. The uploads, marked as private, appear to have been recorded in 2018 and 2019. Billy Joel has criticized plans to make a movie about his life, saying he has not authorized the project and will not allow the use of his music.Variety reports that casting is underway for "Billy & Me," directed by John Ottman. The film will focus on Joel's early career, told from the perspective of his former manager, Irwin Mazur.Producers have secured the rights to Mazur's life story and those of Jon Small. Small played drums with Joel in the late 1960s band the Hassles before the two formed the group Attila. Attila disbanded after Joel began an affair with Small's wife. She later divorced Small and married Joel. In the documentary "And So It Goes," Joel described how the incident led him to attempt suicide, which left him in a coma for several days."I felt very, very guilty about it. They had a child. I felt like a homewrecker," Joel said in the film. "I was just in love with a woman and I got punched in the nose which I deserved. Jon was very upset. The band became known as Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show, later shortened to Dr. Hook.The group landed its first record contract in 1970 after appearing in the Dustin Hoffman film "Who Is Harry Kellerman and Why Is He Saying Those Terrible Things About Me?"Dr. Hook became known for its country pop-rock sound and found success throughout the 1970s. Hits included "Sylvia's Mother," "The Cover of Rolling Stone," "Only Sixteen," "Sharing the Night Together," and "When You're in Love with a Beautiful Woman." The band's final Top 10 hit, "Sexy Eyes," came out in 1980."We started, we were a bar band. Alex Ligertwood, who sang for Santana over several decades, has died. He was 79.Ligertwood's wife and agent, Shawn Brogan, announced his death Tuesday on social media."Alex passed peacefully in his sleep with his dog Bobo by his side," Brogan wrote. "Alex was loved by so many. If you knew him, you loved him. He touched many with his extraordinary voice. He was all heart and soul. His favorite thing in life was to make music, sing and share his gift. He performed his last show just two weeks ago. I'm grateful for that. He did it his way, on his terms, till the end. Early in his career, he played guitar and sang in local skiffle groups before joining the Jeff Beck Group and Brian Auger's Oblivion Express.Ligertwood joined Santana in 1979. He sang with the band during five different stints through 1994, including performances at the US Festival in 1982 and Live Aid in 1985. He sang lead on songs such as "All I Ever Wanted," "You Know That I Love You" and "Hold On." He also co-wrote tracks including "Brightest Star," "Make Somebody Happy" and "Somewhere in Heaven.""My idea of a vocalist is that he's a musician; his voice is his instrument," Ligertwood told spinterview.com in 2024. "Every song should have its own thing. Just like you can change the tones on a guitar, I can change the tone on my voice and sing the song the way it should be. The second leg of the tour starts Sept. 3 in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and runs through Oct. 4 in Highland, California. Tickets are on sale. George Lynch to Lead 'A Night of Dokken' Tour in 2027

Former Dokken guitarist George Lynch will headline a new tour in 2027, performing Dokken songs with an all-star band. The tour, called "On the Rise of Decades: Performing a Night of Dokken," was announced this week on Lynch's Instagram page.Lynch's band for the tour will include Brett Carlisle, who sings for Great White; Terry Ilous, founding member of XYZ and former Great White singer; Gabriel, current Lynch Mob vocalist; bassist Jaron Gulino; and drummer Brian Tichy, who has played with Whitesnake and Gene Simmons.The tour is set to begin Dec. 31, 2026, in Fort Myers, Florida, and end Jan. 10 in Birmingham, Alabama. LONDON - Yes have rescheduled their previously postponed UK "Fragile" tour, with new dates set for May 2027, the band announced Tuesday.The progressive rock group had initially planned a nine-date tour for May 2026 to celebrate their classic 1971 album, "Fragile." These dates would have marked Yes's first UK performances in two years. Dave Mason, the celebrated singer, songwriter and musician who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a co-founder of the band Traffic, died Sunday, April 19. He was 79."It is with deep and profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of Dave Mason," his publicists said in a statement on behalf of his family. The statement described Mason as having "lived a remarkable life devoted to the music and the people he loved."Born in 1946 in England, Mason rose to prominence with Traffic, contributing writing credits and lead vocals on songs such as "Hole in My Shoe" and "Feelin' Alright?" He launched a solo career in 1970 with the album "Alone Together," which peaked at No. 22 on the Billboard 200 and included the Hot 100 hit "Only You Know and I Know." Mason had four singles reach the Billboard national chart during his career.Mason was known for his extensive collaborations, working with artists including George Harrison, the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and Michael Jackson. His acoustic guitar work appears on Hendrix's "All Along the Watchtower," and he contributed to Harrison's post-Beatles album "All Things Must Pass."Traffic disbanded in 1974 after releasing 11 albums, four of which reached the top 10 on the Billboard 200. The band reunited for a tour in 1993 and 1994. Mason also toured with Traffic drummer Jim Capaldi in 1998.In 2004, Mason was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Traffic. That year's class also included Prince, ZZ Top, Jackson Browne and Bob Seger. Bandmates Jim Capaldi and Steve Winwood performed "Dear Mr. Fantasy" at the ceremony. Capaldi died in 2005 after a brief battle with stomach cancer. LAS VEGAS - A second Kiss Kruise is scheduled to take place Nov. 13-15 at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, marking the band's second consecutive year hosting a land-based version of its themed event."When we were first approached with the idea of doing a Kiss cruise, when we first heard about it, I went, 'Who is gonna go on a Kiss cruise?'" frontman Paul Stanley told an audience at a recent fan expo in Indianapolis, according to Blabbermouth.net. "And we've had people from 33 countries around the world for every time we went out. So it was amazing. But the crazy part about it is that over the years everybody started doing cruises, so we can't get a ship most of the time. Def Leppard is among the artists featured on the new soundtrack for the re-themed Rock 'n' Roller Coaster at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Florida.The ride, which closed earlier this year, is scheduled to reopen May 26 as Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets. The show will feature digital avatars of the group created by Industrial Light & Magic, the visual effects studio founded by George Lucas. "It's going to be the iconic face personas, the Demon, the Starchild, and so on. In 2022, the couple put the property on the market for $22 million as they considered moving back to the United Kingdom, citing California's high tax rate as a factor."We are leaving LA. We are a bit sad. But the tax is getting too much," Osbourne said at the time. "I am sad because I really, really like staying and living there."The Osbournes later took the property off the market. Iron Maiden has announced two additions to the lineup for its upcoming 50th anniversary EddFest.The two-day festival is scheduled for July 10-11 at Knebworth, England. Former Iron Maiden lead singer Blaze Bayley will headline the Maidenville stage on Friday night. Bayley, who fronted the band from 1994 to 1999, sang on two Iron Maiden albums: "The X Factor" (1995) and "Virtual XI" (1998). He was recently added to Iron Maiden's Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nomination ballot after initially being omitted."I'm so excited to be invited to headline Friday night at EddFest, celebrating 50 years of Iron Maiden," Bayley said in a statement. LONDON - Eric Clapton has announced the return of his Crossroads Guitar Festival in 2026, featuring a lineup of prominent artists including Pete Townshend, Billy Gibbons and Buddy Guy, among others. The two-day event is scheduled for Sept. 26-27 at Moody Center in Austin, marking the festival's first appearance in the city. Clapton is slated to perform both nights. Tickets go on sale April 3 at 10 a.m. local time, according to organizers. Dash Crofts, the surviving half of the 1970s soft rock duo Seals and Crofts, has died. He met Jim Seals while playing in Dean Beard and the Crew Cats, and both later joined the Champs following the group's hit "Tequila."Seals and Crofts moved to California to pursue music, though Crofts temporarily left to serve in the military. The duo reunited in 1969 and helped pioneer the soft rock genre in the early 1970s. With Shelton as producer, their third album, "Year of Sunday," was released in 1971, followed by a string of hits including the title tracks from the double-platinum "Summer Breeze" (1972), "Diamond Girl" (1973), and the gold-selling "Get Closer" (1976), all of which reached the Top 10 on the charts.Crofts and Seals shared songwriting duties and vocals, with Crofts also playing guitar and mandolin. Their other notable songs include "Hummingbird," "I'll Play for You," and "You're the Love," each reaching the Top 20, while "We May Never Pass This Way (Again)" peaked at No. 21. Brian Setzer has shared new details about his recent health struggles as he prepares for a summer tour with the Stray Cats.Setzer, who revealed last year that he had been battling a debilitating autoimmune disease, said he was treated at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. At one point, Setzer said he was "frozen in pain" and developed an addiction to Kratom, an over-the-counter herbal supplement.Setzer said his condition left him unable to complete everyday tasks."It's frustrating when you sit down and your hands do nothing," Setzer told Guitar Player magazine. "You really can't take it for granted. Playing guitar is certainly on top, but so is holding a toothbrush."Setzer said he eventually found relief at the Mayo Clinic, where he received a proper diagnosis."The best way I can describe it is, your nerves are like wires, and wires have sheathing on them," Setzer said. "Well, that coating has kind of eroded, so the wires malfunction. Basically, they lock up my hands and feet. I can't move them. I can't button my pants, let alone play guitar."Setzer described a slow recovery process, starting with the ability to hold a guitar pick and later regaining enough dexterity to fingerpick. "When my fingers came back, then I had the whole package," he said.The Stray Cats had announced a 2025 tour but later canceled it. Setzer said he sought treatment for his Kratom addiction at the Hazelden Betty Ford clinic in Minnesota."They advertise it as a safe tonic to give you energy, and it's not," Setzer said. "So that just aggravated the whole thing. I just stopped everything and went away and cleaned out and came back fresh and clean."The Stray Cats-Setzer, bassist Lee Rocker, and drummer Slim Jim Phantom-are scheduled to begin a 16-show tour in late July, with dates running through August.

DETROIT - KISS is opening a new Rock & Brews restaurant this week in the Detroit suburb of Royal Oak, marking the 19th location since the chain's launch in 2010. The opening comes as the band continues to pursue a number of projects following its retirement from touring in 2023.Bassist and co-founder Gene Simmons told Ultimate Classic Rock that fans can expect more from KISS in the coming years, including on-screen and on-stage appearances. "We're working really hard, all of us, in making sure that the quality of everything will blow you away because over the years the fans have been expecting not the norm, but the extra norm."Simmons compared the band's new phase to a caterpillar transforming into a butterfly. PEORIA, Ill. - Members of REO Speedwagon reunited Saturday, March 7, in Peoria for a surprise performance honoring late guitarist and Peoria native Gary Richrath. Billy Idol says the closest he came to death occurred during a night of heavy drug use in the early 1980s.During a recent appearance on comedian Bill Maher's podcast, "Club Random," Idol recounted the incident, which took place following the release of his 1983 album "Rebel Yell.""I went back to England in triumph with the album 'Rebel Yell,'" Idol said. "I was going to do it on 'Top of the Pops' in England. I've had this big record in America."Idol said a group of friends met him at the airport with heroin. The group went to a hotel room, where, according to Idol, everyone else in the room eventually passed out except for him and one other person.Idol said he preferred to snort heroin rather than inject it, a choice he attributed to his mother's profession as a nurse.Eventually, Idol was the last person in the group to lose consciousness. "When other people in the room came to, I was going blue," he said.Idol said he was likely close to death. "If you're dying, you're going to start turning blue," he told Maher. His friends revived him by running water on him in a bath. "I survived," Idol said.Idol, who described himself as "California sober" during the interview, said he eventually quit heroin, but the withdrawal was extremely difficult. "It's like a skeleton is trying to get out of your body," Idol said, describing the feeling of coming off the drug."Heroin is really great. The worst thing is getting off it. That's what stops me from going back to it-the thought of getting off. It's so terrible," he said.Idol said he used other drugs as well. "Once you're trying to get off heroin, what do you go to? You go to something else," he said. "I started smoking crack to get off heroin. It worked."Looking back, Idol acknowledged his drug use during that period. "I liked taking drugs back then. I enjoyed it. It took me a long time to put them in the rearview mirror, but at some point I realized you had to do that," he said.Idol is a nominee for the 2026 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame class. Paul McCartney was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist in 1999, but a previously unpublished 2015 interview reveals he was disappointed it took so long.Journalist Joe Hagan spoke with McCartney for more than an hour in March 2015 while researching "Sticky Fingers: The Life and Times of Jann Wenner and Rolling Stone Magazine," a biography of the Rolling Stone founder released in 2017. Only a small portion of their conversation appeared in the book, but Vanity Fair recently published the full interview online.McCartney's Frustration with the Rock HallThe Beatles were inducted into the Rock Hall in 1988, and McCartney frequently attended induction ceremonies in the early years. He also took part in Ringo Starr's induction in 2015 and gave the speech for the Foo Fighters in 2021.In the interview, McCartney recalled being surprised when Jann Wenner, the Rolling Stone co-founder and former Rock Hall chairman, called to ask if he would induct John Lennon. McCartney initially accepted but reconsidered when he realized he was not being inducted himself that year for his solo work."I got back to him and said, 'Well, wait a minute. What about me? Maybe I'll do John, and then maybe I should go in,'" McCartney told Hagan. "And it was like, 'Oh no, we can't do that.' In all my dealings with him, it's never up to Jann. It's up to these other people down the corridor somewhere. He happens to have 'owner-editor' on his door, but they're responsible for things?"McCartney said Wenner promised he would be inducted as a solo artist in 1995. "I said, 'Okay.' And I bought the deal. Next year came around [and nothing happened]," McCartney said. "So it was like, 'Can you ring Jann? What's going on? I don't appear to be in it.'"A Complicated Relationship with WennerWenner has said he did not recall making such a promise to McCartney. McCartney described his relationship with Wenner as complicated, saying he always sensed Wenner favored Lennon."The thing about John Lennon and McCartney was we were always equal. But, of course, once John got murdered, he became the martyr - the Buddy Holly, the James Dean character - because of the atrocity," McCartney said. "So a revisionism started to go on. And Yoko [Ono] certainly helped it. Jann was a big part of that. So that naturally colored my thinking."McCartney added, "So none of these things endeared me to him. And it was always, 'It's not me.' Eventually I did creep in there, and my daughter Stella wore a T-shirt [that said], 'About time.'"Wenner's role with the Hall has diminished in recent years. In 2023, he was removed from the organization's board after making controversial comments about female and Black artists.McCartney's Recent ProjectsMcCartney remains active with a range of projects. Eric Clapton Announces Fall U.S. Shows

Eric Clapton will perform six concerts in the United States this fall, beginning Sept. 6 in Detroit and concluding Sept. 17 in Kansas City, Missouri.Jimmie Vaughan will open all U.S. dates. Neil Sedaka, the Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter known for hits such as "Breaking Up Is Hard to Do," "The Diary," "Oh! Carol" and "Laughter in the Rain," has died at age 86.Sedaka's family confirmed his death Friday in a statement."Our family is devastated by the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Neil Sedaka," the statement read. "A true rock and roll legend, an inspiration to millions, but most importantly, at least to those of us who were lucky enough to know him, an incredible human being who will be deeply missed."Sedaka, born March 13, 1939, in Brooklyn, New York, began his music career in his teens during the 1950s. He first found success with the doo-wop group The Tokens, then partnered with neighbor Howard Greenfield. The Sedaka-Greenfield songwriting team reportedly sold 40 million records between 1959 and 1964.Sedaka placed 30 songs on the Billboard Hot 100, including three No. 1 singles and nine top 10 hits. Eleven of his albums reached the Billboard 200 chart, with "The Hungry Years" peaking at No. 16 in December 1975.Sedaka's influence extended to other artists. Micky Dolenz of the Monkees called Sedaka "a rare talent," noting that Sedaka wrote "When Love Comes Knockin' (At Your Door)" for the group's 1967 album "More of the Monkees." Elton John called Sedaka's death "very sad news" and praised his work at Rocket Records in the 1970s, adding, "He deserves to be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame." Carole King wrote, "Neil Sedaka was so talented, and he inspired me to follow my dream of being a songwriter."Sedaka was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and was honored with the Sammy Cahn Lifetime Achievement Award and Special International Award from The Ivors.
