Smashing Pumpkins will headline Lollapalooza in their hometown of Chicago for the first time in more than 30 years. The band will perform Friday night, July 31, on the Bud Light stage in Grant Park.Their last headlining slot at Lollapalooza was in 1994, during the festival's original touring years. LOS ANGELES (AP) - Jackson Browne will return to the stage for three concerts at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre in November, his first full performances since the death of his son last year.Browne, 75, is set to perform Nov. 19, 20 and 22. The shows come nearly a year after his son, Ethan Browne, died of an accidental overdose at age 52.After the death of his first wife, actress Phyllis Major, in 1976, Browne became Ethan's sole parent. In a 2021 interview with Route Magazine, Browne said, "I only had two things that I hoped I could fit together: being a songwriter and a father. And I looked at it like this, if I have to only be a father, I hope I'll know it, and just do that."Although these concerts mark Browne's first full-length shows since his son's death, he has made several public appearances in recent months.On June 5, Browne performed two songs at Music America: The Songs That Shaped Us, a concert honoring the United States' 250th birthday. "I'm out of post-op recovery, and I'm doing everything within my power to feel better and continue playing great shows for great fans when I've got a complete clean bill of health."Michaels said he appreciates the important role that family, friends, fans, doctors and nurses play in everyday health.He added, "Also just know, they eventually forced me out of my clothes and into a hospital gown... as I had gone straight from the show to the hospital."Michaels' next scheduled show is a private event July 25. "These are decisions that are going to have to be made between Matt [Cameron], Ben [Shepherd] and I, and the producer. Right about now, it's likely about eight or nine songs. More likely nine."He noted that the band is working around other commitments, which has slowed progress. "We have to book studio time here and there," Thayil said. "It's been a very busy year for us with the Hall of Fame induction, very busy year for me with the book, and until last year it was very busy for Matt with Pearl Jam recordings and Pearl Jam touring. We kind of have to work around a lot of that."Thayil did not rule out the possibility of touring to support the album, possibly with a guest vocalist or multiple singers. Huey Lewis says music is no longer part of his life, eight years after losing his hearing to Meniere's disease.Lewis, 73, lost the hearing in his right ear in the 1990s. In 2018, his left ear also failed, forcing him to end his music career.In a recent episode of the "Inside of You" podcast, Lewis spoke about how his life has changed and said he still hopes for medical or technological advances that could help him.He described his first hearing loss by recalling advice from a doctor. "My dad was a doctor and he sent me to this famous ENT guy," Lewis said. "He looked at it and said, 'Well, get used to it!' I said, 'What do you mean, get used to it? I'm a musician; I'm a singer. I need my hearing!' He says, 'You only need one ear. Jimi Hendrix had one ear, Brian Wilson had one ear. I have one ear and I'm in a barbershop quartet!'"Lewis said he worried about performing with hearing in only one ear, but his brain adjusted. "I was very apprehensive, and it was fine, because your brain moves everything to the middle," he said. "So I existed on one ear for 25 years. And then my left ear bailed, and now I'm deaf, basically, without the technology."Lewis now uses a cochlear implant in his left ear and a hearing aid in his right. Both connect to his phone and computer. He said these devices have changed his life, but not for the better when it comes to music. "Music is not part of my life anymore. It's a hard pill to swallow," Lewis said.He explained that speech and music sound distorted through the devices. "People sound like they took a hit of helium," he said. "Sometimes I play [an album] because I know it so well. I can hear the beat and I know what's going on, but I can't enjoy it. Music used to be fun. Now I try so hard to get it, and it just ends up frustrating for me. I can't feel the warmth."Lewis said he experienced depression after his diagnosis, especially during the first six months. He misses performing and seeing his bandmates, especially when he hears about their current work. "My bass player, John Pierce, is playing with Toto now, and they're just killing it out there. I wish I could do that," he said.Lewis has found some comfort in fishing, which he discovered after losing his hearing. He said spending time in nature has been a positive change. "If I had hearing, I'd still be on the road, probably, and I don't miss that. I miss doing a show once in a while, I miss the camaraderie, but I've fished so many great places and met all kinds of different people. So I've got to look at the positive," he said.Asked about future treatments, Lewis said there is little known about Meniere's disease, but he hopes for improvements. He mentioned a possible new cochlear implant that would be fully internal, allowing users to swim and sleep without removing anything. "Right now, I have to take all my stuff out to sleep at night. Mars had accused the band of playing to backing tracks, but later retracted those statements in court.Tension between M tley Cr e and Godsmack dates back to 2009, when Godsmack opened for M tley Cr e on the Cr e Fest 2 tour. Larkin said in a 2011 interview that issues with M tley Cr e's security led to bad blood, claiming Godsmack's guests were mistreated backstage. "Motley Crue's security were real weird with our guests getting backstage, like our guests might want to look at Motley Crue. Our guests were there to see us and they didn't care about Motley Crue," Larkin said at the time.Godsmack later released the 2010 song "Cryin' Like a Bitch," which frontman Sully Erna confirmed was inspired by their experience on the tour. Erna said in a video, "There's definitely been some rock star garbage on this tour that we just have never seen in our career. "I just knew a bunch and also not in detail. So I started my whole research, but we also prepared, I think, six or seven songs for the first rehearsal. "I mean, they didn't really start from scratch, but as a trio, we had to find a way to come together. And it's one thing when you come into a band and everyone knows everything and it's just like playing, it's smooth because they're doing it every day onstage and you're the newbie who has to adjust and learn all this. It didn't feel like that. So it was also taking the pressure a little bit away because they're kind of like, 'Okay, how does this go?' Cause they hadn't played it in 10 years. This week, he will premiere a new documentary, "Frampton," directed by longtime band member Rob Arthur. The release of "Carry The Light" and the documentary happened to align, though it was not planned. "We were going to release the album a month earlier, but then Tribeca contacted us," he said. "So we put it back so the album would come out, and two weeks later it's Tribeca, and then we could talk about both."Arthur, the film's director and Frampton's keyboard player, started the project after Frampton revealed his diagnosis of Inclusion Body Myositis (IBM), a degenerative muscle disease. The condition has affected Frampton's mobility and playing style, but audiences have seen little change during his recent performances.Arthur said he wanted to document Frampton's farewell tour in 2019. "Peter said, 'Why don't you just film all the concerts?'" Arthur said. "I'm the keyboard player, so it was a challenge." He set up three cameras to capture performances and backstage moments, and he began interviewing Frampton.Arthur found the story went beyond concert footage. The COVID-19 pandemic slowed the process but gave Arthur time to organize material and start a production company, Phenix Features, with Frampton. What about Nirvana's "Drain You" or Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)" as stripped-down, emotional ballads?Over the weekend, Cuomo uploaded more than a dozen covers to YouTube under the playlist title "randum cuverz." The uploads, marked as private, appear to have been recorded in 2018 and 2019. The collection opens with a cover of Radiohead's 1992 single "Creep," with Cuomo delivering a vulnerable, unadorned version.Cuomo then moves to a quick, acoustic version of Andr 3000's "Hey Ya" from Outkast's 2003 album "Speakerboxxx/The Love Below." Billy Joel has criticized plans to make a movie about his life, saying he has not authorized the project and will not allow the use of his music.Variety reports that casting is underway for "Billy & Me," directed by John Ottman. The film will focus on Joel's early career, told from the perspective of his former manager, Irwin Mazur.Producers have secured the rights to Mazur's life story and those of Jon Small. Small played drums with Joel in the late 1960s band the Hassles before the two formed the group Attila. Attila disbanded after Joel began an affair with Small's wife. She later divorced Small and married Joel. In the documentary "And So It Goes," Joel described how the incident led him to attempt suicide, which left him in a coma for several days."I felt very, very guilty about it. They had a child. I felt like a homewrecker," Joel said in the film. "I was just in love with a woman and I got punched in the nose which I deserved. Jon was very upset. Dennis Locorriere, the lead singer and guitarist for Dr. Hook, died Saturday. The band became known as Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show, later shortened to Dr. Hook.The group landed its first record contract in 1970 after appearing in the Dustin Hoffman film "Who Is Harry Kellerman and Why Is He Saying Those Terrible Things About Me?"Dr. Hook became known for its country pop-rock sound and found success throughout the 1970s. Hits included "Sylvia's Mother," "The Cover of Rolling Stone," "Only Sixteen," "Sharing the Night Together," and "When You're in Love with a Beautiful Woman." The band's final Top 10 hit, "Sexy Eyes," came out in 1980."We started, we were a bar band. We were playing whatever it took to keep us from being killed," Locorriere said in a 2015 interview with 100% Rock Magazine. "Country music, anything. George Lynch to Lead 'A Night of Dokken' Tour in 2027

Former Dokken guitarist George Lynch will headline a new tour in 2027, performing Dokken songs with an all-star band. The tour, called "On the Rise of Decades: Performing a Night of Dokken," was announced this week on Lynch's Instagram page.Lynch's band for the tour will include Brett Carlisle, who sings for Great White; Terry Ilous, founding member of XYZ and former Great White singer; Gabriel, current Lynch Mob vocalist; bassist Jaron Gulino; and drummer Brian Tichy, who has played with Whitesnake and Gene Simmons.The tour is set to begin Dec. 31, 2026, in Fort Myers, Florida, and end Jan. 10 in Birmingham, Alabama. Ten dates have been announced so far, but venues have not yet been named. Lynch said more dates will be added soon.Lynch played on Dokken's first six studio albums, from "Breakin' the Chains" in 1981 through "Shadowlife" in 1997. LONDON - Yes have rescheduled their previously postponed UK "Fragile" tour, with new dates set for May 2027, the band announced Tuesday.The progressive rock group had initially planned a nine-date tour for May 2026 to celebrate their classic 1971 album, "Fragile." These dates would have marked Yes's first UK performances in two years. However, the band postponed the tour earlier this month after guitarist Steve Howe required urgent surgery and time to recover.In a statement, Howe said, "We're all now looking forward to the UK dates in 2027 and will be presenting all of 'Fragile,' in its entirety and much more. Dave Mason, the celebrated singer, songwriter and musician who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a co-founder of the band Traffic, died Sunday, April 19. He was 79."It is with deep and profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of Dave Mason," his publicists said in a statement on behalf of his family. The statement described Mason as having "lived a remarkable life devoted to the music and the people he loved."Born in 1946 in England, Mason rose to prominence with Traffic, contributing writing credits and lead vocals on songs such as "Hole in My Shoe" and "Feelin' Alright?" He launched a solo career in 1970 with the album "Alone Together," which peaked at No. 22 on the Billboard 200 and included the Hot 100 hit "Only You Know and I Know." Mason had four singles reach the Billboard national chart during his career.Mason was known for his extensive collaborations, working with artists including George Harrison, the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and Michael Jackson. His acoustic guitar work appears on Hendrix's "All Along the Watchtower," and he contributed to Harrison's post-Beatles album "All Things Must Pass."Traffic disbanded in 1974 after releasing 11 albums, four of which reached the top 10 on the Billboard 200. The band reunited for a tour in 1993 and 1994. Mason also toured with Traffic drummer Jim Capaldi in 1998.In 2004, Mason was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Traffic. That year's class also included Prince, ZZ Top, Jackson Browne and Bob Seger. Bandmates Jim Capaldi and Steve Winwood performed "Dear Mr. Fantasy" at the ceremony. Capaldi died in 2005 after a brief battle with stomach cancer. He was 60.According to representatives, Mason died peacefully at his home in Gardnerville, Nevada.Mason is survived by his wife, Winifred Wilson; his daughter, Danielle; nephew John Leonard and his wife, Trish; niece Michelle Leonard; and brothers-in-law Sloan Wilson and his wife, Claudia, and Walton Wilson and his partner, Barbara Sims. LAS VEGAS - A second Kiss Kruise is scheduled to take place Nov. 13-15 at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, marking the band's second consecutive year hosting a land-based version of its themed event."When we were first approached with the idea of doing a Kiss cruise, when we first heard about it, I went, 'Who is gonna go on a Kiss cruise?'" frontman Paul Stanley told an audience at a recent fan expo in Indianapolis, according to Blabbermouth.net. "And we've had people from 33 countries around the world for every time we went out. So it was amazing. But the crazy part about it is that over the years everybody started doing cruises, so we can't get a ship most of the time. So last year we decided, I said, 'Well, let's do a Kiss Kruise: Landlocked in Vegas.' So we did that, and it was really fun. Having the band play was amazing and seeing everybody was great. And that was the first one."The upcoming three-day event will feature Q&A sessions with the band and other activities. Def Leppard is among the artists featured on the new soundtrack for the re-themed Rock 'n' Roller Coaster at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Florida.The ride, which closed earlier this year, is scheduled to reopen May 26 as Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets. On April 13, Disney Parks teased the updated soundtrack by revealing a cover of Blur's "Song 2," performed by The Electric Mayhem, the fictional Muppets band.The full soundtrack, announced Friday, includes rock songs spanning the 1960s and 1980s, as well as other eras. Pink Floyd is marking the 50th anniversary of its 1975 album "Wish You Were Here" with a new sportswear collaboration.The British rock band has partnered with Italian soccer club Inter Milan and Sony Music Italy for a new Pink Floyd Football Club (PFFC) capsule collection. The PFFC was originally a friendly team founded by Pink Floyd members during the 1970s.The limited-edition collection includes two exclusive items: an "anthem jacket," priced at $290.10, with only 400 numbered pieces available in special packaging, and a bundle featuring an original T-shirt and a blue vinyl record, limited to 1,908 copies and priced at $64.70. The Inter Milan team, nicknamed the Nerazzurri, will wear the anthem jacket before their match against Cagliari at San Siro Stadium on Friday, April 17. The show will feature digital avatars of the group created by Industrial Light & Magic, the visual effects studio founded by George Lucas. Pophouse Entertainment, the Swedish company known for producing the ABBA Voyage hologram show, will lead the project's rollout.Simmons said the show will represent the band's iconic personas, such as the Demon and the Starchild. "It's going to be the iconic face personas, the Demon, the Starchild, and so on. Built in 1929, the residence offers more than 10,000 square feet of living space.According to the property's official real estate listing, the home has undergone restorations to maintain its historical architecture while adding modern amenities. Features include a chef's kitchen, private movie theater, wood-paneled library, mosaic-tiled swimming pool and an outdoor dining area with a pizza oven.Osbourne and his wife, Sharon, purchased the home in 2015 for $11.85 million from film producer Oren Koules. In 2022, the couple put the property on the market for $22 million as they considered moving back to the United Kingdom, citing California's high tax rate as a factor."We are leaving LA. We are a bit sad. But the tax is getting too much," Osbourne said at the time. "I am sad because I really, really like staying and living there."The Osbournes later took the property off the market. Journey guitarist Neal Schon has responded to reports suggesting frontman Arnel Pineda was compelled to participate in the band's ongoing farewell tour.Pineda, who joined Journey in 2007 at age 40, said he attempted to step away from the group twice before the launch of the Final Frontier tour in late February. He acknowledged recent vocal challenges, particularly at outdoor venues in cold weather, and spoke publicly for the first time about personal struggles related to an ongoing divorce, which includes allegations of domestic abuse.Pineda said he notified the band of his intent to resign, writing a letter to that effect, but did not receive a response."If you're planning to do a farewell tour, you better tell me, because my issues and my personal problems are getting more intense and I don't know if I want to go with you," Pineda said.
