Last month, before things got intense between Kendrick Lamar and Drake, he joined Canada's E-Talk for a conversation about feuds in Hip Hop. At the time of the interview, K. Dot had already fired the first shot on Metro Boomin and Future's "Like That," following which J. Cole issued then rescinded a response to Dot with "7 Minute Drill." The Los Angeles native, who famously beefed with his former N.W.A crew back in the day and dropped one of the most scathing disses of all time with "No Vaseline," has matured a lot over the years as he stated that he doesn't like the dangerous route a lot of rap beefs take as they escalate. "Beefs are volatile. You always have to be careful that a beef doesn't turn into a murder," he said. "Back in the day, you'd do a diss record, but it would stay somewhat in the Hip Hop community. Now, it's all over the world. All walks of life know what's going on. And some people can't really take that kind of humiliation. I don't really like seeing rappers beef. "I don't think it's necessary to have a great career. But it happens! Hey, it's part of the game and I think when you in a beef, you can't really hold back. It's like being in a fight - you can't really half-punch; you gotta go all the way." HHDX YouTube Video Player - Play ButtonYoutube Video - Ice Cube Admits He 'Doesn't Like' Watching Other Rappers Beef Even less enthusiastic about the beef in question is Questlove. "Nobody won the war," he wrote. "This wasn't about skill. This was a wrestling match level mudslinging and takedown by any means necessary - women & children (& actual facts) be damned. "Same audience wanting blood will soon put up 'rip' posts like they weren't part of the problem. Hip Hop truly is dead." Challenging both MCs to step their game up morally, Questlove added in the caption: "Here We Are Now...Entertain us?"312471NEWS LIVERADIO RADIONEWS HIPHOPNEWSblogs/5-2024/312471-news-liveradio-radi-s.jpgTRAVIS SCOTT'S ASTROWORLD LAWSUITS HAVE ALL BEEN SETTLED, WITH ONE EXCEPTIONhttps://www.blackvibes.com/features/blogs/djbosslady-news-liveradio-radionews-hiphopnews-1400445/features/blogs/djbosslady-news-liveradio-radionews-hiphopnews-1400445/Posted by djbosslady0https://www.blackvibes.com/features/blogs/djbosslady-news-liveradio-radionews-hiphopnews-1400445/#commentsWed, 8 May 2024 21:50 GMTTravis Scott's 2021 Astroworld festival tragedy resulted in 10 wrongful death lawsuits against the rapper and a myriad of companies, but they've almost all been settled. According to a report published by ABC News on Wednesday (May 8), just one case is currently pending while all others - including one that was set to go to trial this week - have been confidentially settled. The final lawsuit was filed by the family of 9-year-old Ezra Blount, the youngest person killed at the concert. Last month, a judge denied the Houston rapper's motion to be dismissed from the Astroworld lawsuits. District Judge Kristen Hawkins issued her ruling without explanation, meaning that the civil suits will be permitted to move forward. If found liable, Scott and Live Nation will be facing a court-ordered payout of billions of dollars in damages to the victims. In March, Cactus Jack's attorneys argued that the responsibility for the fans' safety lies with event organizers and the venue's staff. Travis Scott Announces New 'Circus Maximus' Tour Dates Across Europe This Summer RELATED NEWS TRAVIS SCOTT ANNOUNCES NEW 'CIRCUS MAXIMUS' TOUR DATES ACROSS EUROPE THIS SUMMER MAY 8, 2024 "Like any other adrenaline-inducing diversion, music festivals must balance exhilaration with safety and security-but that balance is not the job of performing artists, even those involved in promoting and marketing performances," lawyer Daniel Petrocelli wrote. "Which only makes sense: Performing artists, even those who engage in certain promotional activities, have no inherent expertise or specialized knowledge in concert safety measures, venue security protocols, or site-design." He continued: "When, during festival planning, concerns arose about the risk of a stampede occurring in the festival site, the Scott defendants supported festival organizers' efforts to eliminate that risk by agreeing to remove certain rides and other attractions at the site. Then, when the Scott defendants were told to end the show after Mr. Scott's guest performer finished performing, they did just that-ending the show as directed." While Travis remains a part of the legal proceedings, Drake has been dismissed from the plaintiff's claims. Earlier this year, the rapper's attorneys requested that he have his name removed from the suits while claiming that he was not involved in the even't planning. In April, NBC News reported that Judge Hawkins approved the request. Several companies such as Apple Inc. as well as Scott's Cactus Jack Enterprises and LaFlame Enterprises had similar requests denied. Last year, a grand jury declined to bring criminal charges against the "Sicko Mode" rapper over the tragedy. That decision took place about a month after Houston Police issued a nearly 1,300-page report detailing its investigation.312470NEWS LIVERADIO RADIONEWS HIPHOPNEWSblogs/5-2024/312470-news-liveradio-radi-s.jpgPAPOOSE DEFENDS RAP LYRICS FROM BEING USED IN COURT IN POWERFUL NY STATE CAPITOL ADDRESShttps://www.blackvibes.com/features/blogs/djbosslady-news-liveradio-radionews-hiphopnews-1749235/features/blogs/djbosslady-news-liveradio-radionews-hiphopnews-1749235/Posted by djbosslady0https://www.blackvibes.com/features/blogs/djbosslady-news-liveradio-radionews-hiphopnews-1749235/#commentsWed, 8 May 2024 21:48 GMTPapoose is among the many Hip Hop figures who are advocating against the use of rap lyrics as evidence in court, and he has now taken his efforts to the New York State Capitol. During a meeting with local politicians that took place on Tuesday (May 7), the veteran rapper made a case for the AB127 bill that seeks to limit "the admissibility of evidence of a defendant's creative or artistic expression against such defendant in a criminal proceeding." "America has a problem with violence, not Hip Hop," he argued. "Hip Hop is the only thing that gave us a way out, away from the negativity." In the caption of an Instagram post about the gathering, he wrote: "Today we visited the capital to fight for change on a very important issue. I used my tracks titled "Law Library" as a reference. In New York, the music industry is a significant contributor to the economy and culture. With over 202,000 jobs created and a substantial $19 billion contribution to the state's GDP, music plays a vital role in New York's prosperity. "The state boasts a vibrant community of approximately 130,000 songwriters, highlighting the depth of musical talent within its borders. In response to these pressing concerns, nearly a dozen Assembly members, led by Assemblywoman Cruz, have introduced AB127. Passing AB127 would limit the use of a defendant's creative work in a trial, ensuring artists are able to express themselves freely without fear of reprisal from the justice system. A companion bill, SB1738 passed the Senate on March 27. He added: "AB127 establishes safeguards to ensure music, literature, film, and other works of creative expression remain protected by the First Amendment. This legislation seeks to establish a systematic framework for the handling of lyrics in legal proceedings. It does not ban the usage of creative work in criminal proceedings; instead, it shifts the burden to the prosecutor who must prove the work is relevant and admissible. "Researchers and legal scholars have seen this practice apply, almost exclusively, to hip hop and rap. And while the legislation is not genre specific, it is impossible to ignore the detrimental impact the existing practice has had on certain Black and Brown artists practicing their craft. By providing clear legal guidelines on the admissibility of lyrics as evidence, AB127 aims to prevent the unjust weaponization of creative expression for prosecutorial purposes." Last year, Fat Joe defended Young Thug by claiming that he's lied in most of the songs he's released throughout his career. During a CNN interview with Gayle King, the Bronx rapper said it's a "travesty" that the Atlanta native's lyrics can be used against him in the ongoing YSL RICO case. "I've been rapping professionally for 30 years - I've lied in almost 95 percent of my songs," he began. "I'm being honest. I write like I feel that day. I'm just being creative. You couldn't build a jail high enough for the lyrics I've said on songs which are all untrue." Atlanta City Council Introduces Bill Seeking To Limit Use Of Rap Lyrics In Court RELATED NEWS ATLANTA CITY COUNCIL INTRODUCES BILL SEEKING TO LIMIT USE OF RAP LYRICS IN COURT JULY 12, 2023 The Terror Squad boss continued: "What I am is a family man, the person who gives back to my community all the time, opens businesses in my community. So the music would never amount to the actual person, Joseph Cartagena. What's even more horrible is that the district attorneys, they know those lyrics ain't real. They know that's creativity. But if it helps their case, they'll use it to put these guys in jail. "And here, we're having a fun show about it and discussion, but there really is six defendants in Atlanta who might spend the rest of their lives in jail for something that's totally not true. This is very serious. This destroys families." Soon after, he set the record straight about the above claim that had people questioning his authenticity. In explaining himself, he pointed out that MCs "move off of inspiration," switching between a range of emotions such as anger, love, peace and tranquility. "I had to say 95 percent of what I say is a lie so that they can understand that it's unfair to try some kids for the rest of their life with shit they might've not done," Joey Crack said. "What you gotta understand is that it's creativity [...] now if I say I use my imagination, my creativity in my music don't mean I ain't live a real fuckin' life in the streets."312469NEWS LIVERADIO RADIONEWS HIPHOPNEWSblogs/5-2024/312469-news-liveradio-radi-s.jpgFAT JOE JOINS FORCES WITH ZOEY DOLLAZ TO BRING MUCH NEEDED HUMANITARIAN AID TO HAITIhttps://www.blackvibes.com/features/blogs/djbosslady-news-liveradio-radionews-hiphopnews-1539345/features/blogs/djbosslady-news-liveradio-radionews-hiphopnews-1539345/Posted by djbosslady0https://www.blackvibes.com/features/blogs/djbosslady-news-liveradio-radionews-hiphopnews-1539345/#commentsSat, 4 May 2024 01:48 GMTFat Joe and Zoey Dollaz have teamed up with Food For The Poor to bring some much-needed humanitarian aid to the embattled Haiti. According to a press release shared with HipHopDX on Thursday (May 2), the partnership will establish a relief fund, which will provide aid and essential supplies to families affected by the country's most recent humanitarian crisis spurred by nearly three years of civil unrest in the island nation. According to Axios, Prime Minister Ariel Henry stepped down from his position as of April 25, in response to the increasing incidents of violence in the island nation. Henry had assumed power following the assassination of then President Jovenel Mo se in July 2021. Under his leadership, Haiti's capital of Port-au-Prince has seen escalating gang violence that came to a head on March 4, following a prison break at Haiti's National Penitentiary - which, per CNN, facilitated the escape of about 3500 of the facility's 3687 inmates. The country's leaders declared a state of emergency, which eventually led to Henry's resignation and the slow process of installing a provisional council to work towards stabilizing Port-au-Prince. At press time, however, the seaport and international airport in the capital remain closed. And while smaller airports in the cities of Cap-Haitien to the north and Les Cayes to the south are open, the import of commercial goods and delivery of humanitarian aid have been severely impacted. "My heart goes out to all the Haitians that are suffering because of this humanitarian crisis," the Terror Squad leader said, in a statement. "Many of my close friends are Haitian, so we've been watching this tragedy unfold and exploring the most efficient and effective ways to provide meaningful support. All relief items and financial contributions will go directly to Food For The Poor, so they can safely distribute the donations directly to the families in need." Fat Joe has established an Amazon Wish List of essential items that will be sent directly to Haiti, including baby formula, diapers, and wipes. In recent years, the Bronx native has established himself as quite the activist. Last month, he paid tribute to his son while continuing his efforts to raise awareness about neurodivergent children and the conditions they have to actively negotiate. On April 2, the Terror Squad boss shared a photograph of the World Autism Awareness Day logo along with a throwback photo of his 33-year-old namesake, Joseph Jr. "WORLD AUTISM AWARENESS DAY Joey this one's for you [blue hearts emojis]," he wrote in the caption. According to court documents obtained by HipHopDX, the aspiring rapper (real name Kentavious Wright) was officially sent to prison on April 26 after he took a plea deal. The charge - originally a capital felony, making him eligible for the death penalty if convicted of the top count - was reduced to a lesser felony, meaning he only has to serve 17 years behind bars. It is unclear whether Dirty Tay will be eligible for parole before the sentence is up. Check out the docket below. Dirty Tay released two albums, Way Bigger on the Low and Too Turnt Up, on Lil Baby's 4PF label in 2020, with his songs "Beast" and "Don't Wanna Do It" racking up over a million streams each on Spotify. The shooting took place on August 3, 2022, and involved a man and his three-year-old son being shot at while leaving the Off the Hook barbershop in southwest Atlanta. According to police, the father and son were driving down Peters Street when a Kia did a U-turn and began to follow them. The car pulled up alongside the passenger side at an intersection and multiple shots were fired, resulting in the child being struck in the head. The father estimated five shots were fired before the suspect drove to a fire station, with three 9mm shell casings being found at the scene of the crime. The child was rushed to the hospital and was stabilized hours after the shooting. Dirty Tay denied his involvement in the shooting in a post to his Instagram Stories. "I'm innocent the news is not always right don't bash me because of allegations," he wrote. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, police arrested 24-year-old Dirty Tay (real name Kentavious Wright) during a traffic stop on August 19, 2022, and booked him into the Fulton County Jail on a dozen counts. On Wednesday (May 1), both companies announced a "multi-dimensional licensing agreement" that will once again make UMG's entire discography available on the platform following a three-month dispute. "This new chapter in our relationship with TikTok focuses on the value of music, the primacy of human artistry and the welfare of the creative community," the music corporation's chairman and chief executive officer Lucian Grainge said about the reconciliation. "We look forward to collaborating with the team at TikTok to further the interests of our artists and songwriters and drive innovation in fan engagement while advancing social music monetization." TikTok's CEO Shou Chew added: "Music is an integral part of the TikTok ecosystem and we are pleased to have found a path forward with Universal Music Group. We are committed to working together to drive value, discovery and promotion for all of UMG's amazing artists and songwriters, and deepen their ability to grow, connect and engage with the TikTok community." The joint statement also addressed the rise of artificial intelligence in music: "TikTok and UMG will work together to ensure AI development across the music industry will protect human artistry and the economics that flow to those artists and songwriters. TikTok is also committed to working with UMG to remove unauthorized AI-generated music from the platform, as well as tools to improve artist and songwriter attribution." The two companies failed to agree on a new deal relating to artist compensation and AI back in January, which in turn prevented a number of musicians from having their music on the social-media outlet. UMG alleged that the social-media platform accounts for "only about 1% of our total revenue," which they said was evidence of "how little TikTok compensates artists and songwriters, despite its massive and growing user base, rapidly rising advertising revenue and increasing reliance on music-based content". They also accused the outlet of trying to "intimidate" them by "selectively removing the music of certain of our developing artists" but keeping songs from better-known ones. Additionally, their letter said: "TikTok's tactics are obvious: use its platform power to hurt vulnerable artists and try to intimidate us into conceding to a bad deal that undervalues music and shortchanges artists and songwriters as well as their fans." TikTok replied with a furious statement of their own that read: "It is sad and disappointing that Universal Music Group has put their own greed above the interests of their artists and songwriters," the app wrote. Despite Universal's false narrative and rhetoric, the fact is they have chosen to walk away from the powerful support of a platform with well over a billion users that serves as a free promotional and discovery vehicle for their talent. CeeLo Green Sides With UMG In Split From TikTok: 'There's No Wrong Way To Do Business' RELATED NEWS CEELO GREEN SIDES WITH UMG IN SPLIT FROM TIKTOK: 'THERE'S NO WRONG WAY TO DO BUSINESS' FEBRUARY 3, 2024 "TikTok has been able to reach 'artist-first' agreements with every other label and publisher. Clearly, Universal's self-serving actions are not in the best interests of artists, songwriters and fans." Universal Music Group are one of the biggest record companies in the world, with several major imprints such as Interscope, Republic and Def Jam under its umbrella. Hence, the fallout affected numerous A-list artists, including Beyonc , Nicki Minaj, SZA, The Weeknd and Post Malone. Muni Long was particularly frustrated by the ordeal as she took to TikTok soon after to share her thoughts on the matter, suggesting that she was in therapy because it felt like her career was being sabotaged. "The only reason I'm defined as an R&B artist is because I'm Black," the New Jersey singer said. "It's almost a little reductive because it doesn't allow space to be anything else or try anything else. Justin Bieber is not considered an R&B artist; he is a pop artist who makes R&B, folk music, or whatever his heart desires. "I simply just want to be allowed the same opportunity to make whatever I want without a label, [without it being] based on the colour of my skin, or the crew that I run with, or the beats that I choose. I want "F2F" to be seen as what it is. I want "Nobody Gets Me" to be seen as what it is. I want "Kill Bill" to be seen as what it is." She added: "At the same time, it's nothing to get bent out of shape about, because it's just how people are processing you. As long as I don't process myself that way. I don't necessarily box myself into anything. I'm just trying to make music, trying to vibe out and enjoy the experience." Whereas SZA clearly has her qualms about how she has been presented in the music industry, she hasn't lost sight of how her fans continue to recognize her brilliance. Last month, she expressed her gratitude to her supporters for making her realize just how great of a song "Snooze" is, especially since she didn't initially see its charm. The famed mixing engineer and producer took to Instagram Stories on Wednesday (May 1) to break down some of K.Dot's subliminal references for younger fans who may not register the references. He wrote: "I realize some of my young people and my students have never seen 'The Wiz.' If you came up in a Black household it was mandatory. The dance scene in Oz is incredible but it points out that pop culture is fake. The Wiz changes the colors and people just go along with it. Richard Pryor later admits that he is a fake and a phony." He added: "Teddy Pendagrass [sic] got into a car accident and had to live the rest of his life paralyzed in a wheelchair." The track, which arrived earlier this week, begins with a vocal snippet that sounds somewhat like gibberish, though when reversed, it's actually a clip from the 1978 film The Wiz. The moment in question comes from Richard Pryor's character, Herman Smith/The Wiz, who says: "Everything they say about me is true. I'm a phony." K.Dot took the internet by storm when he finally fired back at Drake on his blistering new diss song. The track finds the Compton rapper unloading on his longtime rival for several minutes in response to Drizzy's own diss records "Push Ups" and "Taylor Made Freestyle." From there, Kendrick throws jab after jab - and even a few haymakers - at the 6 God, using everything from his parenting skills, alleged use of ghostwriters and rumored plastic surgery to his appearance, tough guy persona and attitude towards women as ammo. The Pulitzer Prize winner also accuses Drizzy of sending a cease and desist letter in attempt to have "Like That," his chart-topping collaboration with Future and Metro Boomin that reignited their long-simmering feud, taken down.311477NEWS LIVE RADIONEWSblogs/5-2024/311477-news-live-radionews-s.jpgCARDI B & OFFSET FUEL RECONCILIATION RUMORS WITH COURTSIDE DATE AT KNICKS GAMEhttps://www.blackvibes.com/features/blogs/djbosslady-news-live-radionews-778125/features/blogs/djbosslady-news-live-radionews-778125/Posted by djbosslady0https://www.blackvibes.com/features/blogs/djbosslady-news-live-radionews-778125/#commentsThu, 2 May 2024 20:25 GMTCardi B and husband Offset have once again given off mixed signals about the nature of their relationship following a great deal of turbulence in their romance that ultimately lead to the two parting ways last year. On Tuesday (April 30), both rappers were spotted sitting courtside at Game 5 of the New York Knicks vs. Philadelphia 76s Playoffs game in Madison Square Garden. The two even seemed cheerful as the giant screens hovering over the wooden floor broadcast them to the cheering crowd. This, of course, isn't confirmation of the two reconciling, though it does point in that direction considering they have been spotted together before since their breakup in 2023. Check out the fan-recorded clip of both superstars at the basketball match below: Back in December, the "Bodak Yellow" hitmaker confirmed that she and Offset had broken up. The Bronx rap star made the bombshell revelation shortly after the Migos alum was accused of sleeping with Chrisean Rock by Blueface. The Georgia native immediately shut down the allegation and even the mother of his children didn't believe the claims, though she did admit that she perceived it "as a sign" for her to move on. "I've been single for a minute now," the 31-year-old said on social media. "I know today has been an eventful day. I don't pay mind to none of that. I don't care about none of that. I don't know if y'all been getting clues from me from my Lives, from my Stories, when I put certain music [up] or from my unfollowings. "When it comes to today's events, I don't think it's true. But it has been like this for a minute now. "I want to start 2024 fresh, open. I'm curious for a new life, for a new beginning. And yeah, I'm excited! New look, new life, new everything [...] I've been going so hard for 2024 to go directly as I want it to. I feel like in 2017 I was single, and that's when I worked the hardest." Less than a month later, Cardi admitted she slept with Offset on New Year's Eve because she "needed some dick" that night. In a clip from the Joe Budden Podcast that began circulating online on Tuesday (April 16), co-host Ice revealed that the Clipse MC doesn't plan on getting involved in the turmoil, as he already has a win over Drizzy with "The Story of Adidon." Budden began by pointing out the risks the 6 God took by mentioning K.Dot's wife on his latest track, recalling how viciously the Daytona rapper hit back at for Drake doing that to him a few years back. To that point, Budden said that Drizzy even including the word "push" in the song's title ["Push Ups (Drop & Give Me 50)"] was bold considering his past with Pusha. Ice, however, said none of those minor details really matter to the Virginia native. "I talked to Push [for] about two hours Saturday - just laughing, just laughing," he said. "He ain't thinking about this shit, bruh. He's laughing; he got his already." In tune with the above claim, the 46-year-old MC recently laughed off Drizzy's current feuds quite publicly. "I just wanted to point out that after all these years of mob talk from Drake, nobody ever laid a finger on @PUSHA_T," a person wrote on Twitter earlier this month, to which the Grammy nominee replied: "Not a pinky nail... The tension between the two climaxed when Push released "The Story of Adidon" a few years back, on which he revealed his adversary had a child with a former adult film star. On the track, he raps: "You are hiding a child, let that boy come home/ Deadbeat motherfucker, playin' border patrol, ooh/ Adonis is your son/ And he deserves more than an Adidas press run, that's real/ Love that baby, respect that girl/ Forget she's a porn star, let her be your world, yuugh!" Though there haven't been too many developments in the Push v. Drake beef, Future, Metro Boomin and Kendrick Lamar dropped "Like That" in late March, on which the Compton MC devotes his entire guest verse to taking shots at Drizzy and J. Cole. The beef has since escalated a great deal, with Rick Ross, The Weeknd and A$AP Rocky joining the California native's side and Cole withdrawing from the beef after releasing a diss track of his own.309008NEWS LIVE RADIONEWSblogs/4-2024/309008-news-live-radionews-s.jpgGUNNA ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM 'ONE OF WUN'https://www.blackvibes.com/features/blogs/djbosslady-news-live-radionews-173204/features/blogs/djbosslady-news-live-radionews-173204/Posted by djbosslady0https://www.blackvibes.com/features/blogs/djbosslady-news-live-radionews-173204/#commentsWed, 17 Apr 2024 00:01 GMTGunna is gearing up for his next big move, as he has announced his plans to drop his fifth studio album soon. While no further details about the release date have been released thus far, the YSL rapper captioned an Instagram post revealing the artwork: "ONE OF WUN | ALBUM OTW." Check it out below: Gunna has already kickstarted the rollout for the new album with with two new singles. In February, he dropped "Bittersweet," on which he seemingly extends an olive branch to his former Drip Harder collaborator Lil Baby, with whom he had been trading shots in past months. "You my dawg, I don't care if we fall out, I never could diss you," he spits early on in the song, which marked his first offering since his 2023 album A Gift & A Curse. A month later, he once again fired back at allegations of being a snitch on a new collaboration with Offset titled "Prada Dem." On the track, which hit streaming services in mid-March, the Atlanta rapper spits: "I set the trend, I'm a trendsetter/ I'm not a rat, still gettin' cheddar." Gunna has been batting off accusations of being disloyal ever since he took a plea deal in the RICO case against his and Young Thug's YSL collective back in December 2022. The "fukumean" hitmaker entered into an Alford plea, meaning he pled guilty to a single racketeering conspiracy charge while maintaining his innocence on that same charge as a form of self-preservation. He said: "Diddy had a bunch of hoes at the house, I made my way to the house...Man there's hoes everywhere, and we know that Diddy got some parties." YG's co-host Stevie again brought up the t-shirt, and the 4HUNNID CEO immediately tried to deescalate the situation, saying: "Man, that's gonna be a good fight." On Thursday (April 11), New York Post reported that the 25-year-old rapper has been arraigned on charges of criminal possession of a firearm as well as criminal possession of a weapon in the Manhattan Criminal Court. The issue stems from a stay at the Dominick Hotel in the Lower Manhattan neighborhood of SoHo, during which a maid found a loaded Glock with 10 bullets in his room. Authorities were subsequently alerted about the piece. "This man is 100% serious in terms of his work, in terms of his professionalism," the Chicago native's attorney said while making a case for him being spared from bail. "He has absolutely no incentive to flee because he has a career he's built." Contrarily, prosecutors argued that the "Finer Things" hitmaker is at flight risk given his past criminal record, which includes arrests for kidnapping, assault and robbery. Judge Kevin McGrath ultimately settled on a cash bail for $25,000 and set a court date for June 4. According to an exclusive report published by RadarOnline on Tuesday (April 9), Charles Polevich has asked for the court's permission to depose the rapper as part of the wrongful death lawsuit that Minaj's mother filed against him as he was driving the car that killed Robert Maraj. He wants the"Super Bass" hitmaker to take the stand in relation to claims she has made about her childhood and her father being abusive to her mother. In a newly filed motion, Polevich's lawyer said Carol Maraj was recently deposed over the course of two days, most recently on December 15, 2023. About it, he said: "The deposition involves questions wherein the issue of domestic abuse is discussed. [Carol] acknowledges that statements related to the topic of domestic abuse were made...but [Carol] does not offer meaningful responses regarding the veracity of the statements made." Nicki's father was killed in a hit-and-run a little over three years ago, following which Polevich was sentenced to one year in prison by Judge Howard Sturiun in Nassau County, New York. He previously pled guilty to a pair of felonies - leaving the scene of an incident without reporting it and tampering with physical evidence - and had his license suspended for six months. Additionally,he had to pay a $5,000 fine. The 72-year-old was initially facing a maximum of seven years in jail, but the judge stood by his promise of sentencing him to one year behind bars. Maraj was struck by a vehicle on Long Island on February 12, 2021 while walking northbound between Roslyn Road and Raff Avenue. He was rushed to a hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries. He was 64 years old at the time of his passing. The driver fled the scene and eventually surrendered to Nassau County Police three days later after law enforcement found the car in question with an altered appearance. COLE CRITICS SLAMMED BY DREAMVILLE CAMP FOR 'SWITCHING UP' AFTER KENDRICK LAMAR APOLOGYhttps://www.blackvibes.com/features/blogs/djbosslady-news-live-radionews-597194/features/blogs/djbosslady-news-live-radionews-597194/Posted by djbosslady0https://www.blackvibes.com/features/blogs/djbosslady-news-live-radionews-597194/#commentsWed, 10 Apr 2024 22:48 GMTJ. Cole's controversial apology to Kendrick Lamar has drawn strong responses from around the Hip Hop community - and a few in particular have irked the rapper's Dreamville camp. In an outspoken post on X on Tuesday (April 9), longtime signee Omen took issue with artists who appeared on the label's chart-topping compilation album Revenge of the Dreamers III criticizing Cole's olive branch. "Watching all the opportunist that benefited from the ROTD3 stimulus package switch up is really entertaining. Keep that energy in person," the rapper/producer wrote. That sentiment was echoed by Bas, who shared a screenshot of a text message that read: "I've been told y'all n-ggas we the only family we got... but n-ggas always want to let the kids from across the street swim in our pool until they take a shit in it." He captioned the image: "the pool's closed," seemingly indicating that Dreamville would be cutting ties with those who have been critical of its founder and flagship star. While neither Omen nor Bas mentioned specific names, a handful of artists who contributed to ROTD 3 have been vocal in their disappointment over J. Cole's apology. Guapdad 4000, who appeared on five tracks across the standard and deluxe versions, wrote on X: "Well that just bummed me out , it's just rap man." He added: "Cole def just killed my spirit... but it's his happiness not mine , it's selfish to think other wise but I'm just a fan at the end of the day. If rap is not competitive I don't want to do it anymore." Reason, who is signed to Kendrick Lamar's former label Top Dawg Entertainment and has worked with several Dreamville artists, also expressed his bemusement: "Idk man, I just....idk." Meanwhile, fellow West Coast rapper Buddy made light of Cole's U-turn by retweeting a video of him Crip Walking while celebrating a Mortal Kombat-style victory which was captioned: "Kendrick Lamar in Compton after hearing Jcole Apoligized [sic] to him." Guapdad later addressed the controversy and denied Omen and Bas' tweets were aimed at him. "Gang not talking about me , y'all stop saying that," he wrote. "Guapdad can always say whatever he wants but n-ggas know my loyalty." J. Cole's apology came during his headlining set at Dreamville Festival this past weekend and was in response to him dissing Kendrick Lamar on "7 Minute Drill" - a rebuttal to K. Dot's own shots at him and Drake on Future and Metro Boomin's "Like That." "I'm so proud of [Might Delete Later], except for one part. It's one part of that shit that makes me feel like, man that's the lamest shit I did in my fuckin' life, right? And I know this is not what a lot of people want to hear," he admitted. 50 Cent Sends J. Cole Urgent Message After Kendrick Lamar Apology RELATED NEWS 50 CENT SENDS J. COLE URGENT MESSAGE AFTER KENDRICK LAMAR APOLOGY APRIL 9, 2024 "I was conflicted because: one, I know my heart and I know how I feel about my peers. These two n-ggas that I just been blessed to even stand beside in this game, let alone chase they greatness. So I felt conflicted 'cause I'm like, bruh, I don't even feel no way. But the world wanna see blood." Cole went on to praise Kendrick: "That shit disrupts my fucking peace. So what I want to say right here tonight is in the midst of me doing that, trying to find a little angle and downplay this n-gga's fucking catalog and his greatness, I want to say right now tonight, how many people think Kendrick Lamar is one of the greatest motherfuckers to ever touch a fucking microphone? Dreamville, y'all love Kendrick Lamar, correct? As do I. "I just want to come up here and publicly be like, bruh, that was the lamest, goofiest shit. I say all that to say it made me feel like 10 years ago when I was moving incorrectly. And I pray that God will line me back up on my purpose and on my path. I pray that my n-gga really didn't feel no way and if he did, my n-gga, I got my chin out. Take your best shot. I'ma take that shit on the chin, boy. Do what you do. "All good. It's love. And I pray that y'all forgive a n-gga for the misstep and I can get back to my true path. Because I ain't gonna lie to y'all, the past two days felt terrible. It let me know how good I've been sleeping for the past 10 years."308137NEWS LIVE RADIONEWSblogs/4-2024/308137-news-live-radionews-s.jpg
