From the streets of New Orleans to helping reshape Southern hip-hop, the Hot Boys have lived a story that B.G. and Juvenile believe belongs on the big screen.

And they might have a point.

During B.G.'s recent appearance on Juvenile and Mannie Fresh's STILL400 podcast, the longtime Cash Money artists discussed the possibility of turning the Hot Boys' history into a biopic.

B.G. compared the potential project to Straight Outta Compton, while Juvenile called out major Hollywood studios to get involved.

The idea isn't just about celebrating old records. It's about telling everything that happened before, during and after the music took off.

FOUR HOT BOYS. FOUR VERY DIFFERENT STORIES.

The Hot Boys officially formed in New Orleans in 1997 around B.G., Juvenile, Lil Wayne and Turk, becoming one of the groups closely associated with Cash Money Records' rise.

Their story, however, extends far beyond the group's discography.

Each member eventually experienced a dramatically different journey after their early success. There were solo careers, label disagreements, personal struggles, legal problems, prison sentences and years spent apart.

B.G. summed up the potential movie during the conversation by pointing out that every member has "a story to tell."

That's exactly what could make a Hot Boys film interesting.

Instead of simply documenting the rise of another successful rap group, a movie could explore four young men coming out of New Orleans, reaching national fame together and then watching their lives move in completely different directions.

BEFORE THE WORLD KNEW CASH MONEY

A Hot Boys biopic would also provide an opportunity to revisit an important period in Southern hip-hop.

Before Cash Money became associated with worldwide stars and massive commercial success, artists like Juvenile and B.G. were helping build the label's foundation in New Orleans.

The Hot Boys arrived during that transformation.

Their music - alongside Mannie Fresh's production - helped give Cash Money a sound and identity that couldn't be mistaken for anything coming from New York, Los Angeles or Atlanta.

Eventually, that New Orleans movement reached far beyond Louisiana.

A film could capture what it looked like before the success became inevitable - when these artists were young, hungry and still creating the blueprint.

THE STORY DIDN'T END WITH THE BREAKUP

The Hot Boys' journey became considerably more complicated once the original run ended.

The members pursued separate careers, while legal issues and incarceration made a full reunion increasingly difficult.

For years, seeing all four men together again seemed unlikely.

That finally changed in November 2024 when Lil Wayne, Juvenile, B.G. and Turk reunited onstage at Lil WeezyAna Fest in New Orleans, marking their first full reunion performance in more than 15 years.

That moment alone feels like the kind of scene a movie would build toward.

According to recent reporting, a B.G. biopic is preparing to begin filming in New Orleans, tracing his journey from the city's 13th Ward through his rise in music and the experiences that followed.

That project could offer audiences one piece of the much larger Cash Money story.

But bringing all four Hot Boys into the same film would open the door to something broader: the creation of the group, the personalities behind it, Cash Money's rise and the complicated relationships that developed along the way.

AND THE HOT BOYS STORY IS STILL BEING WRITTEN

Here's what makes the timing especially interesting:

This isn't purely a nostalgia story.

The four members have already returned to the stage together, and discussions surrounding new Hot Boys music have continued. Juvenile previously said Lil Wayne had contributed verses toward new material involving the group.

B.G. and Juvenile are also actively making music together again. During their recent STILL400 conversation, they discussed their completed joint project as well as the possibility of more Hot Boys music.

So if Hollywood ever does tell this story, the ending might not be written yet.

Five years. Two brothers. One record that has fans talking.

Quavo and Offset are back in the booth together.

The former Migos members have previewed "Away," their first collaboration in five years. The track is expected to appear on Quavo's upcoming album QRÖMELIFE, executive produced by Pharrell Williams.

For longtime Migos fans, though, this is more than another album cut. It marks a significant moment in the story of two artists whose careers have been closely intertwined.

THE REUNION FANS HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR

Quavo and Offset's relationship has gone through its share of highs and lows since Migos' run as one of hip-hop's biggest groups came to an end.

Their renewed connection also carries the weight of losing their fellow group member, Takeoff, who died in 2022.

Druski says one opportunity with Drake completely changed the direction of his career.

 
During a September 24 appearance on The Diary of a CEO podcast with Steven Bartlett, the comedian reflected on being featured in Drake's 2020 "Laugh Now Cry Later" music video.Before the appearance, Druski had already built a strong following online, but he says major brands weren't taking him seriously financially.

Companies would offer free products and event access instead of paid deals.After Drake's co-sign, everything changed.Druski says the exposure gave him credibility in the entertainment and corporate worlds, helping turn his viral success into a real business.

Bigger partnerships followed, including opportunities with major companies such as Nike and Google.

Appearing alongside Drake, Lil Durk and stars including Kevin Durant, Odell Beckham Jr. and Marshawn Lynch also introduced Druski to an even larger mainstream audience.

Druski recalled Drake telling him he was meant to help lead this generation of comedy. Looking back at everything that followed, Druski says he could never repay Drake for taking a chance on him

More than a decade after Drake and Meek Mill went head-to-head in one of hip-hop's most talked-about battles, DJ Akademiks is bringing the story back into the spotlight - this time with a surprising claim involving Nicki Minaj.

According to Akademiks, the tension that eventually exploded between Drake and Meek may have been sparked by a private moment between Meek and Nicki while the two rappers were dating.

But there's an important distinction: this is Akademiks' version of events, and neither Meek Mill nor Nicki Minaj has publicly confirmed the story.

Akademiks Tells His Version of What Happened

During a recent livestream, Akademiks claimed that Meek and Nicki were shopping at a designer store when an argument occurred.

According to Akademiks' account, Meek allegedly didn't have the money immediately available to pay for something Nicki wanted. Akademiks claims Nicki responded by comparing Meek to Drake and telling him he would "never be Drake."

Akademiks alleges Nicki then left the store without Meek.

Not long afterward, according to his version of the story, Meek went on social media and began calling Drake out.

Again, this alleged exchange has not been independently verified.

But if there is any truth to the story, it adds another layer to a beef that changed both artists' careers.

The Tweet That Changed Hip-Hop

Back in July 2015, Meek Mill shocked hip-hop when he publicly accused Drake of not writing his own raps.

The accusation quickly became one of the biggest stories in music.

Instead of allowing the controversy to disappear, Drake responded through music.

AZ Chike's new album No Rest For The Wicked has arrived, but instead of the music being the only conversation surrounding the project, much of the online discussion has centered around one artist who isn't on it: Kendrick Lamar.

Before the album dropped, anticipation grew that Kendrick could appear on the project. AZ Chike had shared images and footage connecting the two artists, and the possibility of a collaboration quickly became part of the album's online buzz.

When No Rest For The Wicked officially arrived without a Kendrick Lamar feature, fans immediately began asking what happened.

Now DJ Akademiks and Adam22 have added even more fuel to the conversation.

Did The Kendrick Hype Become Too Big?

Adam22 reacted to reports that AZ Chike's album was projected to move roughly 9,000 album-equivalent units during its opening week. The number circulating online is only a projection and not a final first-week sales total.

His reaction placed the spotlight directly on Kendrick and the expectations surrounding a possible collaboration.

DJ Akademiks also discussed the situation during his livestream, suggesting that Kendrick may have decided not to release a verse with AZ Chike.

There's one major problem with that theory, however: there has been no confirmation that Kendrick actually recorded a feature for the album and later pulled it.

Chike also entered this release with momentum from his growing Los Angeles following and appearances connected to projects from ScHoolboy Q and Kendrick Lamar.

So while social media may be focused on who isn't on the album, the bigger test will be whether AZ Chike can turn the attention surrounding this rollout into listeners who stay for his music.

First-week numbers can create headlines, but building a lasting fan base is a much longer game.

Never allow a feature to become bigger than your project.

Whether Kendrick Lamar was ever supposed to appear on No Rest For The Wicked remains unconfirmed.

The hip-hop community is mourning the loss of British-Ghanaian rapper, producer and entrepreneur Sway DaSafo, who has died at the age of 44.

Born Derek Andrew Safo, Sway died at his home in Ghana, where he had been living. His death was announced by the MOBO Awards and confirmed by people close to the artist. As of September 18, an official cause of death has not been publicly announced.

An Independent Artist Who Made HistoryLong before independent artists had today's direct access to fans through streaming and social media, Sway was demonstrating what could be accomplished outside of the traditional major-label system.One of the defining moments of his career came when he won Best Hip-Hop Act at the MOBO Awards while still an unsigned artist, competing in a field that included major international stars such as 50 Cent and The Game.

The accomplishment helped establish Sway as an important voice in the growing UK hip-hop movement.His debut album, This Is My Demo, arrived in 2006 and received widespread critical attention, eventually earning a nomination for the prestigious Mercury Prize.Sway would continue building his career with records including "Still Speedin'" and "Level Up," the latter becoming a UK Top 10 hit.More Than Just a RapperSway's impact extended well beyond his own records.

Lil Durk is celebrating a major legal victory after a federal jury found the Grammy-winning Chicago rapper not guilty on all charges in his highly publicized murder-for-hire trial.Durk, whose real name is Durk Banks, was acquitted after jurors deliberated for three days following approximately two weeks of testimony in a Los Angeles federal courtroom.The case centered around an August 2022 shooting in Los Angeles that prosecutors alleged was intended to target rapper Quando Rondo.

Rondo survived the attack, but his cousin, 24-year-old Saviay'a "Lul Pab" Robinson, was killed.Federal prosecutors accused Durk of helping finance and organize the attack as retaliation connected to the 2020 death of his close friend and fellow Chicago rapper King Von.
