Its mission is to provide a platform that will primarily represent the students commonly referred to as the underrepresented population of Illinois State University by holding a metaphorical microscope up to the presence of different cultures on our campus and surrounding communities. Its core purpose is to entertain and enlighten while celebrating diversity.
The idea for Scope arose from seeing the lack of diversity in the publications on the campus and wanting to give the underrepresented students more of a voice. This includes covering the events of the underrepresented organizations, interacting with people of many different cultures with entertaining and educational columns, and throwing events through the Cloud Arts and Entertainment Committee to bring all of these diverse groups together.
