Women are changing the rules of the game in almost every part of the world. Ranging from different occupations that were previously male-dominated to male-crowded workspaces, women are now stepping up the game on every sort of platform. Even in the genre of music, women are taking on more self-empowered roles to showcase more of their self-confidence and self-esteem. Electronic dance music that is produced largely for clubs, raves, and dance festivals, has long since the beginning of its origin attached a male connotation to it that tends to feed off a "bro culture." This type of environment controls the nightlife infrastructure, ranging all the way from club owners to venues and booking agencies to record labels etc. For over years, it's been difficult for a woman to book a gig as well as fight for her right to equal pay and other benefits that are more tilted towards favoring men. But, when I play and fire up the dancefloor, I make sure to break free from all the bounds that have restrained womankind since a century-long battle against men.
It's not very often that you see a Ghanaian female DJ and entertainer lighting up the stage. When I play, everybody crowds around to watch and gawks at me positioned in the center with almost sheer and utter surprise. This is what makes it even more interesting. Despite my name and gender, I'm an ethnic Ghanaian, and I believe myself to be expertly qualified in the art of DJ-ing. My passion and love for creating new and improved quality music of top notch quality since a very young age is what has pushed me to pursue my interests and turn it into a tech savvy profession.
In earlier times within university campuses and even off-campus party locations, you would've hardly seen a Ghanaian woman playing on stage. However, I bring to you a paradigm shift in the world of DJ-ing and set the benchmark even better than your regular DJs from before. In order to take control of the stage, you have to be a warrior, fighter, and struggler every single day. My experiences in life have truly served me with the motivation to excel in every situation and never back down from something that you truly want from deep within.
