Muncie PD: Fight between ex-girlfriend, new girlfriend ends with top of finger bitten off
MUNCIE, Ind. - A Muncie woman allegedly drove past a fish and chicken restaurant and spotted her ex-boyfriend with a new girlfriend. Enraged, the woman is accused of attacking the new woman and biting the top of her finger off.
Johndale Hardy, 49, was charged on Thursday with one count of battery resulting in serious injury, a Level 5 felony.
According to court documents, the confrontation occurred on Feb. 9 at Indy Fish and Chicken on Memorial Drive in Muncie. Police reported arriving at the restaurant and immediately spotting a woman holding a heavily bleeding hand.
Officers said she was "missing the entire top part of her left pinky finger."
The victim and Hardy's ex-boyfriend said Hardy entered the restaurant "aggressively" and kicked off the confrontation by getting in the victim's face.
Police watched surveillance footage that allegedly showed Hardy swing at the victim. The two women then started fighting, according to police, with both restaurant staff and Hardy's ex-boyfriend separating them.
Police said the camera angle did not capture Hardy biting off the top of the victim's pinky finger.
Hardy reportedly fled from the scene in a blue Nissan Rogue before police arrived. She was not arrested in the aftermath of the attack as police were unable to find her. Her ex-boyfriend was arrested, however, due to having outstanding warrants.
Charges were officially filed against Hardy on Thursday. She is ordered to appear in court on May 14.
If convicted of a Level 5 felony, Hardy could face up to six years in prison.
