Former 'Real Housewives Of Potomac' Star Monique Samuels Has No Regrets About Turning Down Offer For Bravo's 'Ultimate Girls Trip': There Was So Much Toxicity There
Monique Samuels wants no parts of the Real Housewives franchise, not even for a girl's trip.
The reality TV star shared in an interview exactly why she turned down Andy Cohen's offer to return to the Bravo universe for Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip. Monique Samuels, who previously appeared on Real Housewives of Potomac, said,
"It just wasn't what I wanted to do. I didn't feel like I could be the same Monique that people were accustomed to seeing anymore when it came to that particular franchise and that particular network because there was so much toxicity there."
Monique Samuels appeared on RHOP for four seasons before making the decision to not return following a physical altercation with her former costar Candiace Dillard. Samuels was asked to do Girls Trip almost six months after she left RHOP, so the situation was still fresh and, for her, a valid reason for declining the show.
"I've never watched any of the Girls Trip shows that they do. All I knew was at that time when Andy asked me, I just had no desire to be back on that network."

This isn't the first time Samuels addressed her decision to turn down Andy Cohen's RHUGT offer. She previously told former Real Housewives of Orange County star Tamra Judge, who was featured on the RHUGT, that her decision was far deeper than just wanting to disassociate from RHOP.
"I told him no! I told him it wasn't just a Potomac thing of why I left, it was also a network issue for me. I can't be on that network working ever again, I just felt some type of way at that time. And I had some healing to do,"
Following her department from RHOP, Samuels moved on to star in Love & Marriage: DC with her husband, former NFL player Chris Samuels. During an exclusive interview with theJasmineBRAND, Samuels shared that she doesn't feel as though she was edited fairly on the OWN series, but as a reality TV veteran, she understood why.
"Somebody had to keep the show going. Me coming in as a veteran of reality tv, at this point, I get it. I do feel like a lot of my context was removed from the entire show. Every time there was a situation, you saw everybody else's reactions towards it. You rarely saw mine which I feel like would have gave a lot more clarity to the situation, but I get it."
While she doesn't have any ill feelings about the situation, the football wife told theJasmineBRAND that editing was one of the biggest reservations she had about returning to reality TV. She said,
"With reality TV, I am my true real self all the time whether cameras are around or not. I can't control what other people and their comfort level is when it comes to cameras so if I'm being 100 me but then cameras come around and you're holding back they're gonna focus on me and my actions because they- you have to have something, something has to be given right?"
