Rapper Lady Leshurr Calls Out Cardi B For Using Her Beat & Not Crediting Her For Viral Hit 'Cheap A** Weave'
UK rapper Lady Leshurr is looking to collect some coins from Cardi B after she remixed her viral freestyle.
Rapper Cardi B, born Belcalis Almánzar, was called out by Lady Leshurr for her 2015 song "Cheap A** Weave," which is a remix to the British rapper's "Queen's Speech 4" freestyle. The remix was originally released in 2015 prior to Cardi B's mainstream breakthrough and has garnered up over 4.6 million views on YouTube alone.
On August 2, Lady Leshurr, 34, celebrated the original track's seventh anniversary. The controversy began via Twitter after Lady Leshurr, real name Melesha O'Garro, replied to a Twitter user who commented "cheap a** weave" under a video of her breakthrough freestyle, the title of Cardi's version of the track.

Leshurr tweeted about wanting the Bronx rapper to compensate her for remixing one of her most popular freestyles. Leshurr wrote,
"You mind asking Cardi if she can break me off a likkle change she used my beat/idea before her big break and is now a millionaire and I got paid 0."
While it is unclear if the Birmingham-born rapper was expecting Cardi to respond, she did just that and said,
"I made like 2 dollars of that song ....you want the other dollar ?"
Leshurr clarified her argument and said that she's not after money but wants the appropriate recognition for the recreation of the track. The "Likkle Darling" rapper also mentioned that she sent Cardi, 29, a DM about the viral track years ago, but she allegedly never heard back. She responded,
"would b nice but tbh I just wanted my credit & it's mad I had to tweet banter 4 a response when I dm u years ago about it. I was cool wen I thought it was just YT cover but it's on streaming sites as 'cheap azz weave' nw & urs comes up b4 mine so yes dollar & credit pls."
In a now-deleted tweet, the "Invasion of Privacy" star promised to have her song "Cheap A** Weave" pulled from all streaming services and to send Leshurr her "dollar." Cardi wrote back,
"I don't find the song on apple but if it's on any streaming service I will be makin sure it's takin down including YouTube. I will also make sure I send you your dollar."
According to reports, the tune currently remains available on YouTube, Spotify, and SoundCloud. The British artist doubled down on wanting her credit for the song and said,
"I was independent when this dropped! My ppl reached out to urs years later no response.. Maybe diff label then? The principle is the song was uploaded w/ diff title without my knowledge & being sold, any1 that samples a song needs to reach out 2da artist not the other way round no?"
Cardi has yet to respond to Leshurr's latest comments.
