Black Blog of the Day: #TheAfricanDream

TheAfricanDream LLCĀ® is about telling the African story from an African perspective to awaken humanity. We are an African affairs news media blog that tells the stories of Africa and Africans from an African perspective in a way that is unadulterated. By so doing, TheAfricanDream LLC project seeks to share Africa's stories in a way that makes it more candid and appealing to the African and also leaves the non-African more enlightened and informed about the continent. We do this with help from our friends around the globe.

Black Blog of the Day: MD & Esquire

Growing up across the street from one another, Suzette Ikejiani and Tristin Brown remained close through middle and high school. Despite going to college in separate cities and settling into professional school in different states, they've continued to encourage each other in their pursuits. Now in their early 20s, a long way from New Renaissance Middle School, they have reached heights higher than anyone could've imagined. The two have long had aspirations to become a doctor and lawyer, but faced countless obstacles to seeing the manifestation of their dreams to fruition. They were told on numerous occasions that their desired paths were unattainable - whether it was because they didn't fit "Ivy League" standards or simply because they were "too rough around the edges". Discouraged and disheartened, they both seriously considered not applying to law and medical school. Now a year out from receiving their Bachelor's degrees, Suzette is finishing up her first year at Baylor College of Medicine and Tristin will be starting at Georgetown University Law Center this fall.

After reflecting on their own experiences and hearing similar stories from their peers, Tristin and Suzette recently teamed up to launch their blog MD & Esquire, recognizing the need for a platform that catered specifically to minority women who are pursuing advanced degrees and careers in the professional realm. MDAndEsquire.org equips women of color with the tools and support necessary to overcome the obstacles they may face and motivates them to be of service to the Black community, both through and beyond their professions of choice.

Young Millennial Impacting Young Lives through Baking: Bakingistherapy.org

My name is Katia Saintfort, founder and CEO of Baking is Therapy Inc. Baking is Therapy is a 501 (c)(3) mentoring organization that utilize baking as a form of self-therapy to provide physical, emotional, and social healing to at risk girls ages 11-18.

As a young mentor and self taught pastry chef, my use of baking has impacted the lives of many adolescents. Our goal is to bring more awareness to mentoring, and to inspire other young millennials to use their talents to reach youth throughout their communities.

Black Blog of the Day: Getting Back To The Cross

Hey guys! My name is Erin Porche and I am 20 years old. I have been praying for months about publishing my blog, apart of me was a little afraid of the judgment that might be passed on me due to the stories, both past and current that I would be going over. But then I thought to myself, everybody deserves the good news!

Regardless of how folks may look at me, what matters is Christ getting the glory! Life post accepting Christ isn't always pretty, it's hard denying your flesh for his glory, especially when being in college. So come with me as we make our way back to the cross in RevelationOfABlackGirl.
