Janet Jackson says that she and Justin Timberlake remain "very good friends" and that the 2004 Super Bowl scandal was overblown. The legendary singer discussed the incident for Lifetime and A&E's new documentary event, Janet.
"Honestly, this whole thing was blown way out of proportion. And, of course, it was an accident that should not have happened, but everyone is looking for someone to blame and that's got to stop," she said of the incident.
Donald Miralle / Getty Images"Justin and I are very good friends, and we will always be very good friends," Jackson continued. "We spoke just a few days ago. He and I have moved on, and it's time for everyone else to do the same."
Timberland has faced criticism for years since the performance, during which he accidentally exposed Jackson's breast.
Jackson added that she told Timberlake he shouldn't make a statement at the time with the hope she could keep the drama away from him.
"We talked once and [Justin] said, 'I don't know if I should come out and make a statement,'" Janet said. "And I said, 'Listen, I don't want any drama for you. They're aiming all of this at me.' So I said, 'If I were you, I wouldn't say anything.'"
In February 2021, Timberlake released a public statement on Instagram apologizing to Jackson for his handling of the incident.

Fat Joe took to Instagram to defend himself after fans online roasted one of his recent outfits featuring Yeezy boots designed by Kanye West. Joe discussed his fashion credentials during a live stream with Brian Miller.
He began by addressing those who have said Joe is too old to be wearing streetwear: “What the fuck do y’all mean by, ‘Dress your age?’ … Should I wear a golf shirt? I don’t know if you know this, I’ve been so fly that it’s, like, working against me now. I’m getting backlash for being so fly … I wanna know why I can’t be fresh. Those Yeezy boots are sold out.”
Paras Griffin / Getty ImagesThe outfit featured a pink hoodie layered under a beige jacket with distressed blue jeans and his Yeezy boots.
When pressed by Miller on the boots specifically, Joe continued operating on the defensive.
“No, I don’t a mistake, that shit fly,” Joe replied. “And let me tell you something, I’m supporting Black-owned businesses when I throw on some Kanye's.”
He continued: “Fashion ain’t for everybody. Everybody just don’t get it. You’re right: the 40 Below, Timberland, super fly. But that’s the comfortable, the norm … The [Yeezy] boot is good money. I’m telling you. I’m ready to sell this boot. I’m ready to make an NFT of this boot … The boot is here to stay.”

Cordae discussed his newfound wealth during an interview with Ebro Darden on Apple Music 1, Saturday, admitting that he views his lifestyle as a "social experiment." Cordae released his latest album, From a Bird’s Eye View, earlier this month.
“I’m kind of living in like an ongoing social experiment,” Cordae explained. “Because you take somebody from not having much and from humble beginnings, and then within a couple of years, you give them fame, you give them a bunch of spotlight, to everybody’s watching everything they doing in they life, and you give them money.”
Roger Kisby / Getty ImagesHe added that he was so worried about squandering his wealth, that he spent years living with his manager despite having enough money to move out.
“I’m still living in this social experiment of me not having anything,” he continued. “And now I have access to money, to millions of dollars. And it became fearful almost for me, I’m like, oh, I have this, I’m able to accumulate this amount of money, and I’m just being repugnant with it, not trying to spend anything, not enjoying myself, not treating myself to anything.
“That’s how I was my first couple of years, I was still living with my manager when I didn’t have to, I was a millionaire living with my manager, just out of fear of blowing, because you hear so many stories about all this living beyond they means, blowing all they money, all of these things. So I was a super extremist with it.”
From a Bird’s Eye View sold 20,000 units in its first week.

Tom Brady Sr. called out reports that his son, legendary NFL quarterback Tom Brady, is retiring from football. Brady Sr. labeled the story "total conjecture" in a statement provided to NFL Network’s Mike Giardi.
"This story Mike is total conjecture. Tommy has not made a final decision one way or the other and anybody else that says that he has is absolutely wrong," Brady Sr. wrote.
Kevin C. Cox / Getty ImagesRumors of the 44-year-old quarterback's retirement seem to come after each passing year for Brady, who has played in the NFL for 22 seasons.
Brady's agent, Donald Yee, says fans should be able to expect a final decision straight from Brady himself soon.
"I understand the advance speculation about Tom's future," Yee said in a statement. "Without getting into the accuracy or inaccuracy of what's being reported, Tom will be the only person to express his plans with complete accuracy. He knows the realities of the football business and planning calendar as well as anybody, so that should be soon."
If Brady does retire, he won't be the only legendary quarterback to call it quits this year. Earlier this week, Ben Roethlisberger announced that his career has reached an end.

Victor Boyko / Getty ImagesWest and Fox have been dating since New Year's when the two met at a party in Miami, Florida. In the weeks since, they've been spotted out and about together in Los Angeles, Paris, and more.
While many were quick to accuse Fox of dating the 22-time Grammy Award winner for the clout, she rebuked the accusation in a recent episode of her Forbidden Fruits podcast.
"People are like 'oh, you're only in it for the fame, you're in it for the clout, you're in it for the money,'" the 31-year-old said at the time. "Honey, I've dated billionaires my entire adult life, let's keep it real."
