Motorcycle driver killed in Grant County collision

MARION, Ind. - A motorcycle driver is dead after police said he disregarded a stop sign and slammed into the side of a pickup truck late Saturday.

The Grant County Sheriff's Department confirmed 31-year-old Tyler Ensor of Marion was declared dead on scene after being located in a field near the intersection where the crash occurred.

The sheriff's department said the deadly crash happened just west of Marion at the intersection of Troy Avenue and 9th Street at roughly 10:36 p.m. on Saturday. Investigators believe Ensor was operating a 2024 Kawasaki motorcycle and ran a stop sign, colliding with the side of a Ford F-150.

The sheriff's department said speed is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash, but alcohol and/or drug use does not appear to be involved, though toxicology tests are pending.

Deputies attempted to render first aid on Ensor after he was found lying in a nearby field. Medics declared him deceased on scene with the coroner notified at 10:50 p.m.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information can contact the Grant County Sheriff's Department Fatal Accident Reconstruction Investigators Deputy Matt O'Banion or Lieutenant Jared Rice at (765) 662-9836.
