Geddy Lee Shares Insight Into How Drummer Anika Nilles Was Chosen For Rush's Upcoming Reunion Tour

Rush bassist/vocalist Geddy Lee shared in a recent CBC News interview that he and guitarist Alex Lifeson have been preparing rigorously for their highly anticipated reunion tour, motivated by a deep desire to make music again following the death of drummer Neil Peart. Rush's 50 Something Tour has received an overwhelmingly positive response from fans, prompting the band to add multiple dates to the initial run, which has expanded to 58 shows in 24 North American cities. Lee revealed they recruited drummer Anika Nilles to fill the irreplaceable role left by Peart, following a recommendation from Lee's bass tech after the two worked together on Jeff Beck's final tour. "When we made the decision to see what it's like to play with another drummer, we contacted her, and she's just a fantastic person," Lee said. "She's just a tremendous player. She's got great technical facility and she's just got a really positive attitude, and that's really good for Alex and I to be around right now."
