The city of Compton has compiled a unique team of local individuals to go to New York to take part in the Bloomberg/Harvard leadership program. The program is a 12 week intensive program designed to teach key players how to interact with city shareholders, city officials and non profits to improve various issues in the city. Compton is one of 10 cities from around the world with different and similar issues that need immediate attention. Issues such as homelessness, beautification and infrastructure will all be addressed. The teams have been meeting online for 5 weeks and now are spending 6 days in face to face classes with another 8 weeks of classes when they return. The goal is to give them the tools necessary to make Compton and other cities better places to live. The Compton team consists of Roslyn Mc Gary, Maria Villarreal, Karen Harris, LaShawn Kindle-Young, Jimmie Smith, John Strickland and Alonzo Williams.
