KANYE WEST ALLEGEDLY CALLED OUT BY SHAQUILLE O'NEAL

Kanye West has allegedly been called out by Shaquille O'Neal, with the NBA great admonishing the controversial rapper and recounting their apparent interaction at the Super Bowl.

In an Instagram post dated Monday (February 12), Ye sang the praises of Dov Charney, the founder of American Apparel who was fired from the company in 2014 after allegations of sexual misconduct, for taking care of him when everyone else appeared to abandon him.

Charney, who was hired in 2023 to be the CEO of the Yeezy clothing brand, was praised by West for his efforts.

"DOV CHARNEY IS MY BROTHER AND ME AND MY WIFE'S BUSINESS PARTNER WHEN JAMIE SALTER AND EVERYONE ELSE WOULDN'T TAKE MY CALLS HE LET ME SLEEP AT HIS FACTORY DOV CHARNEY, JONAH HILL AND JON RAFMAN ARE 3 PEOPLE WHO INSPIRED MY APOLOGY," he wrote in the original caption, referring to his December 2023 note to "the Jewish community."

West has since changed the caption to read, "NEVER TURN YOUR BACK ON PEOPLE WHO WERE THERE FOR YOU WHEN EVERYONE ELSE HAD THEIR BACKS TURNED."

That post prompted Shaq to allegedly roast Ye in the comments section of the post. In the screenshotted comment, Shaq appeared to write, "Who cares stop bitchin and snitchin. i kno u saw me at the Super Bowl i was waiting for u to say something smart. man up. nobody wanna see u cryin man up lil boy."

HipHopDX has not been able to independently verify the authenticity of this comment.

Ye and Shaq have historically not had the best of relationships.

Back in November, Kanye West aired out Shaquille O'Neal's business on Twitter (now known as X) but quickly found himself getting dunked on by the four-time NBA champion.

Ye came to Kyrie Irving's defense after Shaq called the Brooklyn Nets star an "idiot" for sharing an anti-Semitic documentary on social media.

In response, Kanye called out Shaq for being in business with Jewish billionaire Jamie Salter. The Los Angeles Lakers legend is the second largest individual shareholder of Salter's Authentic Brands Group, which owns Forever 21, Barneys New York, JCPenney and Reebok.

"They make us bully ourselves because of our business alignments," Kanye tweeted. "Shaq is in business with Jamie Salter. Jaimie first said he's 50/50 with David Beckham and 50/50 with Shaq. I said 'Jamie... There's no such thing as 50/50 in business... Who has the extra 1 percent for the control and voting rights.'"

Ye continued: "Jamie then said he's actually got the 51 percent on both those deals. We as the creators and talent get so caught up in our vanity that we don't read or understand the fine print. Like Dave Chapelle said, we need to stop giving up control over our own names and our likeness."
