Taylor Swift will contribute an original song to the upcoming "Toy Story 5" soundtrack, the singer announced Monday.
Swift's new track, "I Knew It, I Knew You," will be released June 19, the same day Pixar's latest installment in the animated franchise opens in theaters. Physical copies, as well as acoustic and piano versions, are available for purchase on Swift's website.
In an Instagram post, Swift said writing the song fulfilled a childhood dream. "I've always dreamed of getting to write for these characters who I've adored since I was a 5-year-old kid watching the first Toy Story movie," she wrote.
Swift said she wrote the song after seeing an early screening of the film. "Sometimes you just know, right?" she wrote, sharing a photo of herself lying in the grass among pink and yellow tulips.
The announcement followed a Toy Story-themed countdown on Swift's website, which featured the franchise's character Jessie waving from the corner of the page. The site also displayed a "TS" billboard, similar to blue-and-yellow signs that appeared in cities worldwide in recent days.
Pixar teased Swift's involvement before the official announcement, posting images of the billboards-each featuring 13 clouds, a number Swift's fans associate with her. The studio also shared a video of Jessie dancing beside one of the signs, captioned, "She's making those moves up as she goes!" referencing Swift's song "Shake It Off."
"Toy Story 5" will see Tom Hanks and Tim Allen return as Woody and Buzz Lightyear. The plot follows the toys as they compete for playtime against a new tablet named Lilypad.
Swift last appeared in an animated children's film in 2012, voicing Audrey in "The Lorax." She has contributed songs to several films, including "Sweeter Than Fiction" for "One Chance" and "Carolina" for "Where the Crawdads Sing."
Swift's latest album, "The Life of a Showgirl," spent 12 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The lead single, "The Fate of Ophelia," topped the Hot 100 for 10 weeks.
